It has been promised that emergence is certain, and why is that? Because all dharmas are immutable. And why is that? Because the aggregates such as form, and the eyes and so on, and the six elements such as earth, and the dharma-dhatu, and suchness, and the true limit, and the inconceivable realm, and the perfections, and the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment, and from the powers and so on up to the unmixed dharmas of the Buddha, and perfect complete enlightenment, and the nature of the unconditioned, and suchness, and essence, and characteristics, the going, coming, and abiding of them are prevented, it is naturally accomplished, because of the meaning of knowing the certain emergence. The teaching made for the sake of the certain emergence that transcends limits is: Rava, however you say it, for that Great Vehicle, one does not observe the prior limit, one does not observe the later limit, and one does not observe the middle either, because that vehicle is the equality of the three times, therefore it is called the Great Vehicle. What is said in this way is that the equality of the three times is the certain emergence that transcends limits, it has been promised. And why is that? Because the three times, and its equality, and the Great Vehicle, and the Bodhisattvas, are all emptiness by the nature of that and that, and even for emptiness, the numbers from one to ten are prevented, therefore for the Great Vehicle, there is equality and inequality, and desire, and freedom from desire, and hatred and non-hatred, and delusion and non-delusion, and name and no-name, and virtue and non-virtue, and contaminated and uncontaminated, and culpable and non-culpable, and affliction and non-affliction, and mundane and supramundane, and completely afflicted, and purified, and samsara and nirvana, and permanence, bliss, self, purity, and the opposite of those, and the realms such as desire, and also completely transcending from that, are also unobservable. And why is that? Because all of these are unobservable by nature. And the past and so on

Form and so on are emptiness, empty of form and so on of the past and so on. Why is that? Because emptiness is not perceived in emptiness, therefore it is impossible to perceive form and so on of the past and so on. By the equality of the three times, from the former limit and so on, up to all the perfections, nothing is perceived. Why is that? Because by the very fact that equality is not perceived in equality, it is impossible to perceive the past and so on and the perfections. Likewise, from the mindfulnesses up to the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, it should be stated in the same way. Likewise, from ordinary beings up to the Thus-Gone One, the former limit and so on are not perceived. Why is that? Because beings are not perceived. Subhuti, this is the great vehicle of the bodhisattva mahasattvas, called the equality of the three times. Abiding in that, the bodhisattva mahasattva will subdue the world including gods, humans, and asuras, and will definitely realize all-knowingness. This is said with regard to the definite emergence of the characteristic of attainment. Bhagavan, the bodhisattva mahasattvas of the past, future, and present, having trained in this great vehicle, have attained all-knowingness. They have attained, are attaining, and will attain. This is the establishment of the definite emergence of attainment. The Perfection of Wisdom is the same as the cause of the attainment of the realization of all noble beings, it is the teaching of the Great Vehicle, it has the meaning of knowing that it is pervaded by attainment. In the Perfection of Wisdom, the method of gathering and pouring all dharmas is taught, it has the meaning of knowing that there is nothing lacking in attainment. Why is that? Because in the Great Vehicle, the perfections and so on, and the aggregates of form and so on, from the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment up to the unshared qualities of the Buddha, and up to what is called the element of nirvana, all those dharmas are neither associated nor unassociated.

Formless, unmanifest, unobstructed. Thus, without characteristics, it is the single characteristic itself. The categories that arise from the speech of one who has attained realization are explained as follows. In accordance with the Prajnaparamita, the Mahayana is taught, and the practice of the Prajnaparamita is included within the Mahayana. Thus contemplating, it has the meaning of knowing the ultimate nature of attainment. Why is that? From the Mahayana and the Prajnaparamita, etc., up to all dharmas, there is no duality and no possibility of making duality. Because the Mahayana is taught in accordance with the categories of attainment, it is said. Here, it should be known that the definite arising of attainment is characterized by the negation of three aspects. The negation of the three aspects is as follows: the negation of what is to be attained, the negation of the attainer, and the negation of the relationship between the two. Venerable Subhuti, why is it said that a great Bodhisattva has no object of focus at the prior limit? Why is it said that a Bodhisattva is all-pervading because form is all-pervading and limitless? Why is it said that there is no such thing as form being a Bodhisattva? Why is it said that if I have not seen all Bodhisattvas in all ways and in all aspects, how can I exhort and teach which Bodhisattva in the Prajnaparamita? Why is it said that the name Bodhisattva is merely a designation? Why is it asked, what is that form that is not manifestly established? What is not manifestly established is not form. Should I exhort and teach the Prajnaparamita, which is not manifestly established, by what is not manifestly established? It is said that apart from what is not manifestly established, there is no great Bodhisattva to be found. Why is it said, "If it is taught in this way," and so on? Here, starting from the initial definite teaching, it is intended to negate what is to be attained.
