Because it rots and drips extremely, it is the extremely red one. This is to show the attachment to the beauty of decoration, and the disharmony of being contaminated by blood. Because it rots clearly, it is the extremely rotten one. This is to show the attachment to the color of the body, and the decay of the desire for skin. Being eaten by dogs and jackals, etc., in various ways, it is the extremely eaten one. This is to show the attachment to the fullness of flesh such as breasts, and the fullness of flesh. Two hands are also elsewhere, two feet are also elsewhere, the head is also elsewhere, because they are scattered in various ways, it is the extremely scattered one. This is to show the attachment to the charm of limbs and branches, and the scattering of limbs and branches. The bone itself is the bone one. This is a euphemism for bone connection and a single bone. This is to show the attachment to the wealth of bones such as teeth, and the disharmonious things of the body's bones. Extremely melting and burning, it is the extremely burning one. This is to show the attachment to color and shape, and the complete contraction of skin and shape, therefore this should be practiced. The eight discriminations of a great person should be practiced, like this. This Dharma is for those with small desires, not for those with great desires, it is for those who are content, extremely secluded, diligent, mindful, meditative, and endowed with wisdom, not for those with shallow wisdom. With these seven discriminations of a great person, the great son Maudgalyayana was able to abide. The Blessed One also said to the great son Maudgalyayana: You should also discriminate these eight discriminations of a great person. This Dharma is without elaboration, rejoices in non-elaboration, and strives for the union of rejoicing in non-elaboration, so it is said. Therefore, because of small desires, four things are abandoned, like this: pretense, flattery, partiality, and measuring by gain. Among them, the so-called pretense, some people seek to gain profit, seeking gain and respect.

Furthermore, due to being associated with a mind that craves gain and honor, whether it is a monastic, someone living in a hermitage, or a solitary practitioner, if they closely rely on any merit obtained through practice, then they will think: 'How wonderful it would be if others respected me, regarded me as a lama, made offerings to me, and remembered me! How wonderful it would be if I could also obtain gain, respect, and fame!' Thinking in this way, striving for gain and respect, and acting with such a mindset of craving gain, this is what is called hypocrisy. Flattery refers to some people who, craving gain and respect, say to others: 'You are just like my mother, like my father, like my siblings, like any relative, like a future in-law. Please give to me as well, and we will give to you. Please do this, and we will do it for you. I have come to you from a distant place, and my staying here is also for your sake.' Saying this, they will become close. Striving for gain, craving gain and so on, being associated with such a mindset, flattering, praising, pursuing, sweet-talking, and engaging in flattering behavior towards others in this way, this is what is called flattery. Deceit refers to some people who, observing separately, serve things and their causes based on gain. For example, saying: 'Your begging bowl is so beautiful!' Or saying: 'Your Dharma robe, cushion, mattress, crooked key, or this and that of your utensils are so good!' 'If I could obtain something like this, how wonderful it would be!' 'It is also difficult for the patron to obtain!' Or going to any house, they will also say this: 'Your rice is so delicious! The beans are so delicious! The cloth is so good! The clothes are so good! The food you have prepared or are eating is so delicious!' 'In the past, you have also given us...'

It is something to be given and something to be accomplished. We are happy because you have given and accomplished. Now you do not think that you should give to us or accomplish something, like saying that. Those who, after examining them separately, express the reason for that thing as the reason for that thing, which arises from greed, is called persuasion. What is called "definitely showing" is that some people, seeking gain, because they desire gain and so on, with expectations in their minds, say to others, "You should not give to your mother, nor to your father, nor to your sister, nor to any relatives or future in-laws, you should not give to others, who are you going to give to, or what are you going to accomplish?" Saying this. Going to some people's homes, and there also saying, "An Arhat has entered your home, and you and the Arhat have met together, lived together, and talked together, you are truly wealthy. You have obtained wealth well, you have obtained property well, it is meaningful to be a human being!" Saying this. Those people think, "Except for this noble one, no other Shramana or Brahmin has entered our home, so surely this noble one is called an Arhat." Thinking this, why not? That is what they think. In order to obtain gain, because they desire gain, with expectations in their minds, those who are connected to the mind, definitely proclaim to others in that way, this is called "definitely showing." Contentment means using the gains to
