These are solely unconditioned phenomena because they do not depend on causes and conditions. Common dharmas are those that are spoken of, such as the four concentrations. These are common dharmas because they also occur in other continuums. Uncommon dharmas are the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, and those that are spoken of, such as the ten powers of the Tathagata. These are uncommon because they only occur in the continuum of a fully enlightened Buddha. Those who think that the very nature of reality is the object of focus, should explain how the purity of the object of focus becomes more and more distinguished. If it is said: The water element, gold, and the sky, are considered to be pure as purity. If that is the case, since there is no abandonment of the conflicting and opposing aspects of conceptualization, purity will become one-sided. Because it is said in the Prajnaparamita Sutra of King Surata, "Subhuti, there is no object of focus for the omniscient one," then in your own system, isn't it also the case that the object of focus will not become the ultimate of purity? Why is that? Because all phenomena are merely illusions. Subhuti, duality is substantial, non-duality is insubstantial. It will be explained in this way. If one asks, "What else is duality other than illusion?" The answer is: Manifest clinging is the characteristic of duality, but it is not illusion, because it is not spoken of as the nature of grasper and grasped. Therefore, you are completely mistaken in this. In that case, that which is primarily nature is the lineage, and that which is primarily transformation is the object of focus. Since neither is negated as either, therefore the distinction of the characteristics of the basis and the object of focus, and the progression of the object of focus to the ultimate of purity, are also reasonable. For that very reason, Subhuti, a Bodhisattva should train in the non-attachment to all phenomena and the non-existence of what has become. This is what the Buddha said. What does it mean? Transformation that is related to nature is the object of focus, but mere transformation is not. Because of non-conceptualization and the very nature of non-conceptualization.

To comprehend all dharmas in a non-dual manner, the "two" refers to the grasper and the grasped. There is much to say about the pure object, but this much elaboration is sufficient. The object of practice has been explained. Explaining the purpose of practice. Because the purpose of practice is to be explained, it is said that all sentient beings are the very essence of excellence, and also renunciation, realization, these three. This is the self-arising of the three great ones. This is called the purpose, it is said. Here, the purpose of practice is threefold, namely: the greatness of excellence, the greatness of renunciation, and the greatness of realization. Because of establishing the greatness of excellence, the Bhagavan is called Bodhisattva Mahasattva, why is that? Because when asked why he is called Bodhisattva Mahasattva, it starts from the reason for the usage of the term Bodhisattva Mahasattva, making the great aggregates of sentient beings, the great hosts of sentient beings, the eighth, etc., excellent up to the point of non-retrogression, that is why it is said. Among these, the great aggregates of sentient beings refer to the collections of sentient beings. "Great" means immeasurable. Even if it is just one, it becomes great when entering beginningless samsara, so it is called "aggregate." The host of sentient beings refers to the distinction of hosts abiding in the entrance and the fruit of the path. If someone asks, what are those dharmas that will make all sentient beings excellent? To that, Subhuti, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, generates the vajra-like mind, in order to make all sentient beings excellent. Generating the vajra-like mind is like this: thinking in the mind, for the sake of all sentient beings, I will don the armor of immeasurable samsara, therefore fully accepting immeasurable samsara, and completely giving away all possessions, that is, I will completely give away all possessions, as it is said. Having equanimity towards all sentient beings, even if they are completely liberated from nirvana by the three vehicles, also completely
