O, well-knowing one! As it is said, the divine eye of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva is not known by the gods of the Four Great Kings up to the Akanistha gods. Why is that? Because the realm of the divine eye of a Bodhisattva is the death and birth of all sentient beings in the ten directions. The eye of wisdom is that a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, endowed with the eye of wisdom, knows all conditioned or unconditioned dharmas, as it is said. The eye of wisdom is free from conceptualization of all dharmas. The Dharma eye is that, Shariputra, the Dharma eye of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva knows that this person is a follower of faith, this person is a follower of Dharma, and so on, up to that this person will not turn back until he manifestly awakens to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. The realm of the Dharma eye is the realization of all noble beings. As for the Buddha eye, it is said, Shariputra, after a Bodhisattva Mahasattva generates the mind of enlightenment, he abides in the Vajra-like Samadhi, and with the wisdom of a single moment of mind, he attains the all-knowingness. The realm of the Buddha eye is the manifest and complete awakening to all dharmas in all aspects. The instruction on the five eyes has been explained. Among the instructions on the six superknowledges, regarding the superknowledge of miraculous power, it is said that it can cause this great earth to shake violently, and it can transform from one into many, and so on, which is the manifestation of the knowledge of superknowledge for the purpose of manifesting miraculous forms. As for the divine ear, it is said that with the pure divine ear element that transcends human ears, he hears the sounds of both gods and humans. As for knowing the minds of others, he knows the minds of other sentient beings and other persons as they truly are. Regarding those with desire,

It is said that one truly knows the mind that is filled with desire, and so on. Recollection of past lives refers to the ability to recall even one lifetime through the direct cognition that brings about the recollection of past lives. It is also possible to recall hundreds of lifetimes, and so on, which is what is said. The direct cognition of the divine eye refers to the ability to truly know the death and rebirth of beings through the pure and transcendent divine eye, such as beings who engage in evil deeds of the body, and so on, which is what is said. The difference between these two eyes is that the divine eye gathered by karma is born from maturation, while the one gathered by direct cognition is born from the practice of meditative absorption. When focusing on the direct cognition that knows the exhaustion of defilements, even if the wisdom of the direct cognition that brings about birth is directly cultivated, one will not fall into the level of a Hearer or a Solitary Buddha. And so on, which is what is said. That is because all foolish thoughts that focus on it are blocked by the very mindfulness that is fully endowed with all-knowingness. Again, one might ask, why teach direct cognition? Shariputra, completely purifying direct cognition leads to abandoning all-knowingness. Also, in each stage of the perfections, being completely grasped by direct cognition is precisely what trains the path of all-knowingness. In giving, generosity is established to eliminate the opposing side of disharmony. Such wisdom perfection is the very cause of attaining all qualities. Thus it is said. When focusing on the benefits of direct cognition, beings are established in the equality of Dharma, all noble beings are loving, one can encounter pleasing objects and things, Bodhisattvas are worthy of being revered by all the gods, and the Venerable Ananda and three hundred monks

beginning with those called "so and so." Many monks were prophesied to become Buddhas, and in each of the ten directions, realms equal in number to the sands of the Ganges River were manifested. With the power of the extended tongue, the assembly of bodhisattvas coming from other world realms, along with all their retinues, were truly exhorted. These were prophesied because the fruit of the teachings taught at that time would be obtained at other times, and it was spoken with that meaning. The teachings on the six superknowledges have been explained. From the aspect of the teachings on the path of seeing, the Blessed One said to Subhuti: "Subhuti, you should generate courage for the great bodhisattvas, beginning with the Perfection of Wisdom." Shariputra, the Tathagata teaches the Perfection of Wisdom to the great bodhisattvas by means of skillful methods. Teaching the Perfection of Wisdom is not the domain of the shravakas and all solitary realizers, and so forth, it is said. Why does the Blessed One teach from the mouth of another? Because others also begin to practice that meaning, and because it is not appropriate to be grasped by oneself, it is for the purpose of avoiding faults. Why does he teach from the mouth of a shravaka? It is to know that he has attained blessings. Why does he teach only from the mouth of the venerable Subhuti? Because he is the most excellent of those who abide without afflictions, because he shares the same fate as those without afflictions, and is superior, because it is emptiness that is in accordance with the path of seeing. Having done so, venerable Subhuti, well done, well done! The Blessed One said that he is the most excellent of the shravakas who abide without afflictions, and therefore this teaching is also similar to his way, it is said below. Among them, from the sixteen moments of the path of seeing, from the aspect of the moment of the forbearance of the knowledge of dharma in suffering, what is said is: "Subhuti, for example, the Perfection of Wisdom and the bodhisattva, and those called by its name, are merely designations. Subhuti, for example, sentient beings, sentient beings."
