Therefore, the three are the basis for becoming the ultimate, and therefore they are the cause of generating much merit. The collection of paths that are said is: Subhuti, furthermore, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva is like this: the four mindfulnesses, and so on, from the dwelling that is the antidote to distraction that transcends the precepts, such as the conduct of the brave, etc., the activities of walking, coming, looking around, and looking directly, acting with mindfulness, and in the outgoing and incoming breaths, like the analogy of the potter, knowing well the length and shortness, as an antidote to the thought of completeness, like the analogy of the butcher of the ox, contemplating the elements separately, as an antidote to the inverted view of purity, like the analogy of the farmer's cleansing, in impurity, contemplating separately in a way that does not focus internally, likewise in the external and internal body, with mindfulness in the way of following the body, he also does not discriminate against the discriminations that are with the body, it is the prevention of discrimination against things and their characteristics. The charnel ground is the place where corpses are abandoned. This body is this birth. To combine with that principle is to combine with the dead body. How to combine closely? It is said that this body is also of such a nature and such a self-nature. From the stage of semen and blood, combining that stage with that dead body, it is the nature of impermanence, knowing for sure, it should be known that it is the second sentence. Those who have reached the ultimate, such as having nothing, also do not transcend this non-constant nature, it is the third sentence. Dull is dull because of suffering, it is said that suffering and universal suffering and disharmony become painful. Having the combination of dullness, it is said that because this has it, it is having dullness. Mindfulness is to know extremely correctly. Having mindfulness is not forgetting the object. Eliminating is preventing. What is it? It is attachment and displeasure to the world. He is attached to the body, etc., in terms of the manifestation of I and mine. Not abandoning

Discouragement itself, which is similar to this wisdom, is unpleasant. Similarly, to counteract the perversion of pleasure, there is the mindfulness of feeling; to counteract the perversion of permanence, there is the mindfulness of mind; to counteract the perversion of self, there is the mindfulness of phenomena. Because these cause those who do not remember reality, characterized by non-remembrance and non-action, to be mindful, therefore they are mindfulness. In order to prevent the arising and to abandon unarisen and arisen sinful, unwholesome dharmas, and in order to generate, maintain, and increase unarisen and arisen wholesome dharmas, there are the right exertions, because these are the correct and non-perverted abandonments. Therefore, generate desire, strive, exert effort, completely hold the mind, and correctly abide completely, which is called appropriate attention, not abandoning it, and with the freedom of appropriate discrimination, one should understand the meaning of one word, two words, and two words. Desire, effort, mind, and the samadhi of practice, endowed with the diligence of abandonment, are the four legs of miraculous power. These are the legs, i.e., limbs, for accomplishing various qualities, therefore they are the legs of miraculous power. Among these, desire is the very wish to do. Samadhi is one-pointedness of mind. Because one manifestly exerts effort through it in order to abandon afflictions, therefore it is its effort. That is of eight kinds, namely: desire, effort, faith, pliancy, mindfulness, awareness, attention, and equanimity. To possess it is to possess it together with it. What is that? It is the term called the leg, i.e., limb, of miraculous power. To meditate means to make meditation habitual, i.e., to increase familiarization. Among these, familiarization is either suitability, or familiarization becomes stable, or it is not mixed with unwholesome qualities. According to the Abhidharma masters, meditation is also of four kinds, namely: small, medium, and large, the three kinds, and having a fruit free from artificiality.
