Those who truly and accurately reveal the truth and completely dedicate the roots of virtue to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment are indeed virtuous friends. To make (practitioners) distance themselves from the perfections, they use self-composed, pleasant words to narrate, and after dressing up as the Buddha, they say, "What's the use of you practicing the Prajnaparamita?" and so on. Such (evil friend's) behaviors, as well as sutras corresponding to the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and also like, "You don't even have a trace of Bodhicitta," and so on, these are all misleading by means of deception. From the eye and so on, up to the Buddha's unshared Dharmas, if they say, "Everything is emptiness, neither self nor what belongs to self, then what's the use of realizing the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment?" Similarly, for those who appear in the form of Pratyekabuddhas, Shravakas, Khenpos, Acharyas, Brahmacharis, etc., it should also be said in this way. Thus, for those who use the Dharma of Mara to do deceptive misleading, if they do not point out to the Bodhisattva that "these are the deeds of Mara," then this person is an evil friend, one should recognize this point and completely abandon him. This is to explain the characteristics of a virtuous friend, and the characteristics of an evil friend are explained. This is what is said (in the sutra). The intermediate verse for upholding (a virtuous friend) is: "Not being discouraged in mind, etc., the nature of no self-nature, etc., its contradictory qualities, all should be abandoned." Thus it is said. The so-called "corresponding to the decisive part," decision is discrimination, and discrimination without distinction is decision, which is the path of seeing that can counteract the four kinds of distinctions of what is grasped and what grasps. Its part, that is, benefiting by generating one side, therefore corresponding, that is, corresponding to the decisive part. The (content) corresponding to the decisive part has been described. Explaining the Basis of Accomplishment When explaining the basis of accomplishment, it is the meaning of "lineage." It is the place of the Dharma of accomplishment.

The distinctions of the ground transform in thirteen ways. How so? "The dharmas of realization are six," it is said. What are those? It will be explained in the end that the support is called lineage. Like this, the four aspects conforming to ascertainment, and the paths of seeing and cultivation. Because, starting from the generation of bodhicitta, those conforming to ascertainment, and the paths of seeing and cultivation, on that and that, one is called a bodhisattva. "Bhagavan, what is the meaning of the word 'bodhisattva'?" It is said, "What is the support of that and that dharma of realization?" What is said is: Subhuti, the meaning of the word bodhisattva is without meaning of the word. Why is that? Because bodhi does not have birth or existence, or is not an object of focus." This means that, by the reason that the support, bodhi, is not a substance, the lineage of the characteristics of the nature of the six sense bases is the cause for the use of the term bodhisattva, but it is not the meaning of the word that has become an entity. Among them, the support that has become warmth is: Subhuti, like this, for example, there are no bird tracks in the sky, and dreams, illusions, mirages, echoes, cataracts, reflections, cities of gandharvas, emanations have no place, it is said with the metaphor of having no object of focus. Showing the meaning of those nine metaphors is: the first aspect conforming to ascertainment and the first apprehension of the complete possession is spoken of in nine ways, that distinction should be followed, in order to avoid extensive elaboration, we have not elaborated. Similarly, the other aspects conforming to ascertainment, and the paths of seeing and cultivation, should also express the distinctions of the discriminations and the meaning of the metaphors in accordance with the way they are, following the reason. The support that has become the peak is the true limit, and suchness, and non-erroneous suchness, and other-than-other suchness, and dharmata, and dharmadhatu, and dharma-sthita, and dharma-niyata, and the non-place of tathata.
