If it is said that it becomes the eyes, etc., then it is unreasonable. If how is it inconsistent, then that is attachment; if how is it contradictory, then that is non-attachment. Again, if how is it inconsistent? It is the grasping of existence and non-existence, which is universally aroused by unreal discrimination. If how is it contradictory? It is if those do not exist. Again, if how is it that those do not exist? It is just as that which is about to be explained: Venerable Shariputra, if there is no mind, then is there self-nature or no self-nature, non-existence or non-apprehension? Then what is the mind of no mind, does that exist? Is such a debate reasonable? Thus it is said. This is also what is said about particularly non-abiding and universally non-omniscient. By way of the truth of cessation and the truth of the path, and by way of the distinctions of the object and aspect that have become warm, it is said that cessation should be manifested in this way. With this, manifest cessation. The path should be cultivated in this way. Like this, without attachment, etc. Among them, with the word "this way," it is explained that each of the four truths has four aspects. With the word "this," it is explained that the limbs of enlightenment that have become its retinue. Here, cessation and the path are said to be the gate of liberation without characteristics. There are three characteristics: the characteristic of attachment to be relied upon and not to be relied upon for all afflictions and pure dharmas; the characteristic of the basis of learning and non-learning particularly abiding for what should be practiced and what should not be practiced; the characteristic of all-knowing of skillful means and non-skillful means for the perfections such as giving, and that which is not a perfection, etc. Turning back from these, it is said for the purpose of showing the meaning of no characteristic: This is affliction. This is purification. These dharmas should be relied upon. These dharmas should not be relied upon, from this to this is skillful means. This is non-skillful means. Like this, attachment and particularly abiding and all-knowing, this is a Bodhisattva.
