It is not about where to spend time, but through equanimity and one-pointedness of mind, all of these possess two branches. Just as four pieces of cloth of equal width, woven from doubts about coarseness, fineness, extreme fineness, and utmost fineness, although there is no difference in size, the latter becomes extremely superior to the former due to the characteristics of comfortable touch, thinness, and high value, similarly, these too, although there is no difference in branches, but because they have become the nature of subtlety and tranquility, it should be known that the latter is more superior, extremely superior, and most extremely superior to the former. The remaining explanation of liberation is, as it is said, to fully and completely realize. The nine successive abidings in meditative absorption are the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the cessation absorption. The ten kasinas are: earth, water, fire, wind, blue, yellow, red, white, these eight kasinas, as well as the kasina of consciousness and the kasina of space. Among them, the kasina of earth refers to a yogi who, having arisen from the samadhi of the first dhyana, which has become familiar and mastered through practice, considers this absorption to be an antidote to the obscurations of near abiding, and because it is only coarse thought, the power of the branches is also weak. Having seen these faults, he contemplates the second dhyana as peaceful, and in order to attain the second dhyana without completely clinging to the first dhyana, for the branches, thought is coarse, and for investigation and so on, it abides in peace. This is not because of abandoning the coarse branches and for the sake of attaining the peaceful branches that this is made the reason, but repeatedly contemplating "earth" is to be placed in the kasina of earth. Similarly, for the remaining nine, such as the kasina of water, this same method should be viewed. For those who have previously become accustomed to meditation, the kasina of water will appear only without making it into rivers, pools, ponds, and so on. Similarly, the forest fire is burning, and smoke is billowing

In all (things), there is no end. The light moved by the wind and the leaves of vines, etc., observing that this wind is flowing well in this place, is the wind. Flowers, jewels, clothes, etc., when laid on blue, are all blue. When they turn yellow, red, and white, they are all yellow, etc. The painted earth, wind, moon disc, etc., are all white. The circles of light generated on the walls and the ground by the moonlight and sunlight entering through the windows, and those arising from the gaps in the clusters of leaves, only by observing the specks of moonlight and sunlight generated on the four lands by them, is the exhaustion of all distinctions. In the windows and holes in the walls, etc., the exhaustion of all space arises. If one has previously meditated but has not become accustomed to it, such (experiences) will not arise for the initial practitioner's diligence, so one should know the difference of its complete purification. Therefore, one should fill any vessel such as a begging bowl or a plate with pure, stainless water that is free from the distinctions of blue and other colors, that descends from the sky, or that drips from a completely clean water filter, and reside in a suitable place, dwelling in comfort, and begin to apply the mind, this is the complete purification of the exhaustion of all water. Cut oily and pithy wood into pieces and pile them up under a tree or in a guest room, etc., piling them up undisturbed like a potter piling up clay. Make holes at a height of one cubit and four fingers, ignite them all, and spread any cushion such as leather or a straw mat in front of it, dwell in comfort, and contemplate wood and grass below, birds flying above, and imagine thick smoke rising in the center, this is the complete purification of the exhaustion of all fire. If there is no (hole), one can sit near a hole in the wall or its window. Wherever one feels the touch of the wind on any part of the body, one should focus one's mindfulness there, this is the complete purification of the exhaustion of all wind. The stems of blue lotuses and auspicious grasses, etc., and flowers with bright stamens, clothes, and fra
