Furthermore, how does a Bodhisattva Mahasattva, practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, establish the questions of gradual action, gradual learning, and gradual accomplishment? It is to bring the gradual realization closer. Speaking of action is to grasp the meaning of generating the mind of enlightenment. Speaking of learning is to know the meaning of being in accordance with the measure of accurate discernment. Speaking of accomplishment is to know the meaning of the path of experience and the path of meditation. Speaking of these three is to know the gradual nature of realization. Thus, and also, beginning with "This Bodhisattva Mahasattva is the very first," and continuing until "there is not even the tip of a hair," whether I attain perfect and complete enlightenment or not, all phenomena are merely without substance. Having ascertained this, in order to dispel the thoughts of those who have thoughts of things, one enters into perfect enlightenment, and the gradual actions and so forth are proclaimed, thus closely revealing that through the order of realization, in order to undertake the meaning of benefiting others, it is proclaimed to know the things that arise from expression. This gradual realization should also be known as thirteenfold. How is it done? How is it? Giving up to wisdom, Buddha and so on, mindfulness and Dharma, the nature of non-things is that, regarded as gradual action. Thus it is proclaimed. Among them, the gradual realization of the Perfection of Giving is, starting from "I also practice giving," it is proclaimed to know the gradual actions of giving and so on. The Perfection of Morality is, starting from "I also practice the Perfection of Morality," it is proclaimed to know the gradual actions of morality and so on. The Perfection of Patience is, starting from "I also practice the Perfection of Patience," it is proclaimed to know the gradual and so on of patience. Similarly, each practice of the Perfection of Diligence, Meditation, and Wisdom

Thus, gradually increasing, each activity of growth is proclaimed, and the gradual realization is taught through speech. Explanation of the gradual realization of the six recollections. The gradual realization of the recollection of the Buddha is: Again, from the initial generation of the mind of enlightenment, closely grasping, with the mind focused on possessing all aspects of knowledge, engaging in all phenomena with the nature of non-reality, possessing the desire to act, not focusing the mind on form, etc., of the Thus-Gone One, that recollection is the recollection of the Buddha. Why is that? Because form, etc., lack inherent existence, and lacking inherent existence is precisely because the recollection of the Buddha is the absence of recollection. Likewise, each is shown by the combination of six reasonings, and again, not focusing the mind on marks and examples, etc., is the recollection of the Buddha. Similarly, not focusing the mind on the aggregates of morality, etc., is that recollection. Similarly, not focusing the mind on the ten powers, etc., is that recollection. Not focusing the mind on dependent origination is that recollection. Thus, there are five aspects of the recollection of the Buddha. The first of these is the generation of the mind of enlightenment. The remaining four are the four that accord with the divisions of definitive understanding. Thus, when practicing, the path of seeing is the perfection of the limbs of enlightenment, such as mindfulness, and the path of meditation is up to the perfection of the wisdom of all aspects of knowledge. Thus, although the nature of non-reality has been accomplished, one should understand that thoroughly knowing the gradual activities, etc., is meditating on the recollection of the Buddha. Likewise, not focusing the mind on virtuous, non-virtuous, and unspecified phenomena, etc., is the recollection of the Dharma. Because the four pairs of persons are well distinguished by the nature of non-reality, focusing the mind on non-reality, without recollection and without focusing the mind, is the recollection of the Sangha, closely grasping from the initial generation of the mind of enlightenment, without degenerating, without fault.
