The nine aspects are as follows: the practice of absorption with meditation and formlessness, the practice of the six perfections, the practice of the noble path, the practice of the immeasurable, the practice with no characteristics, the practice of the three wheels being completely pure, the practice for the sake of purpose, the practice of direct knowledge, and the practice of all-knowingness. Therefore, meditation, formlessness, generosity, etc., the path and love, etc., having no characteristics, the three wheels being completely pure, for the sake of purpose and direct knowledge, the six, in the manner of all-knowingness, the attainment of practice is on the Great Vehicle, one should know that this is climbing. That is what is said. Among them, the practice of absorption with meditation and formlessness is: when the great Bodhisattva practices the perfection of generosity, with the aspects, characteristics, and signs of space, entering and rising from the absorption of meditation and formlessness, those roots of virtue are completely dedicated to the unexcelled, perfectly complete enlightenment, which is what is spoken of by the Great Vehicle itself. The aspects, characteristics, and signs of space, etc., means that by completely holding the path with the aspect of all phenomena being like space and without any object of focus, it is called without aspect, without characteristic, and without sign. Among them, the aspect is: being separated from desires, being separated from sinful and unwholesome dharmas. The characteristic is: with investigation and with analysis, etc. The sign is: the joy born from separation, etc. Or, with the distinction of lower and higher grounds, coarse and peaceful, etc., are the aspects. On whatever ground there is whatever feeling, that is the characteristic. Tasting the taste of the separation of absorption is the sign. The practice of the six perfections is that with the intention of having all-knowingness, in order to completely abandon the afflictions of all sentient beings, teaching the Dharma is the Great Vehicle of the perfection of generosity itself, and not giving the opportunity of a lesser vehicle mind, this is the perfection of morality.

The Great Vehicle itself, and to teach the Dharma in order to exhaust the afflictions of those sentient beings, such mental engagement with patience, desire, complete realization, thorough understanding, and definite close-mindedness are the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of patience. After thoroughly examining that, in order to accomplish the meaning to be upheld, knowing the cause that completely diminishes it is thorough understanding. Holding that meaning closely and placing the entire mind without exception is mental engagement. Not abandoning that diligence is the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of diligence. And with that meditation and formless attainments, entering into equanimity in a formless manner is the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of meditation. And with the limbs of that first meditation and so on, individually understanding in the aspects of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, peace, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness is said to be the Great Vehicle of the perfection of wisdom. Entering the Noble Path, the Great Vehicle of the Great Bodhisattva is what is said such as cultivating the thirty-seven branches of enlightenment in all aspects. The so-called in all aspects is that all omniscience is encompassed by the three, which is from the perspective of cultivation. Entering the four immeasurables, again in the aspects of conduct of the immeasurable, the patience of all omniscience is the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of patience. Not mixing with the mind of the inferior vehicle is the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of diligence. Tasting the flavor of meditation is the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of wisdom. Entering the four immeasurables is the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of meditation. Causing the exhaustion of outflows of sentient beings to increase is the Great Vehicle itself of the perfection of generosity. Entering the four immeasurables is the perfection of meditation.

It is what is taught as the Great Vehicle of going to the other shore, and the Great Vehicle of the perfection of discipline. This distinction in the order of the perfections is to be understood as being based on the individual who abides in the four immeasurables, because it is possible for them. Moreover, these immeasurables are of four kinds, namely: loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity. Thus, it is extensively taught, "A mind endowed with loving-kindness," and so forth. Each of these has three aspects: focusing on sentient beings, focusing on phenomena, and without focus. Among these, focusing on sentient beings is established by four causes: namely, accomplishing nearness, being the antidote to opposing factors, being pure, and holding the fruit. How does it accomplish nearness? Because it accomplishes three kinds of happiness. "A mind endowed with loving-kindness" means that it abides in closely accomplishing benefit and happiness. "Vast" means closely accomplishing happiness in desire. "Becoming vast" refers to the first and second dhyana grounds, which are associated with joy, because joy exists in those two. "Non-dual" is a synonym for the third dhyana ground, which is without joy, because it is devoid of suffering and joy. It is non-dual. "Immeasurable" means that because the fruit is immeasurable, it is like the confluence of the waters of the four great rivers. It should be known as immeasurable because it possesses happiness and so forth as described above. Thus, it closely accomplishes. How does it act as an antidote to opposing factors? "Without obstruction" means that it closely accomplishes what is not desired and is the antidote to the harmers that harm the close accomplishment of desire. How is it pure? "Without rival, therefore without obscuration" means that, in order, it pacifies the obscurations of sleep, drowsiness, excitement, and regret, and is a well-placed equipoise. How does it hold the fruit?
