However, just as vessels made of the same clay and fired by the same fire differ because they contain honey, syrup, and so on, its distinctions can be thoroughly explained by the differences in the dependent dharma. As it is said, "Whatever has no fabrication is unconditioned. Whatever is unconditioned is the lineage of the noble ones. This lineage is no different from space itself. This lineage is the suchness of dharma at all times, and is constant because it has the same taste of dharma." And so on. The exact meaning is that it is a lineage in the sense of saving through merit, because from it arise and occur these various merits. Therefore, all noble beings are said to be distinguished by the unconditioned. Others say that "place" is called "earth," and earth is also a dwelling place, because for beings who walk together, the word "place" is close. Therefore, those contained by the earth can be protected, so it is a lineage. Or, because all directions are "places," beings dwelling in all directions are called "places." Therefore, whatever can protect is a lineage. If someone asks, shouldn't bodhicitta, liberation, and those corresponding to the decisive part be explained first, since they are the forerunners? The answer is that this is the order of meaning, and realizing the cause through the effect is the order of realization. In this way, those corresponding to the lineage's decisive part are mistaken for errors. As the characteristicists say, "Reversing from the two learning lineages, the other three will also become Buddhas." This has been explained. The basis of practice has been explained. The Object of Practice Because the object of practice is to be explained, it is said, "The object is all dharmas." What are these? They are good, etc. Because the word "etc." is mentioned, it includes the non-virtuous and the unspecified. Are there only these? There are also the discriminations of worldly beings, and those who desire to transcend the world, as well as the contaminated and uncontaminated.

Now, regarding the Dharma and which are conditioned and unconditioned, the Dharma common to disciples, and which are not common to the Able One (Shakyamuni). Thus it was said. Among these, virtuous Dharmas are these: grasping here, grasping there, grasping as asceticism, etc., which are extensively taught, because grasping asceticism itself is asceticism. Non-virtuous Dharmas are the ten paths of non-virtuous actions, which are as follows: killing, taking what is not given, etc., which are taught, because killing, etc., are solely non-virtuous. Unspecified Dharmas are the actions of body, speech, and mind that are unspecified, etc., which are taught, because it must be understood that the unspecified itself is definite, otherwise the actions of body, etc., would also become neither virtuous nor non-virtuous. Worldly Dharmas are the five aggregates, the twelve sources, the eighteen elements, the ten paths of virtuous actions, meditative concentration, the four immeasurables, and entering into the formless absorption, which are taught, because these are worldly. Transcendent Dharmas are from the four meditative concentrations onwards, up to the Buddha's eighteen unshared Dharmas, which are extensively taught, because they are encompassed by the noble path, so they are transcendent. Defiled Dharmas are the five aggregates of appropriation, etc., as well as the four formless absorptions, the six superknowledges, etc., which are taught, because these are not the antidotes to the view of self, so they are solely defiled Dharmas. Undefiled Dharmas are the four mindfulnesses, etc., up to the Buddha's eighteen unshared Dharmas, which are taught, because these are the antidotes to the view of self, so they are undefiled. Conditioned Dharmas are the desire realm, the form realm, the formless realm, and the Dharmas that do not belong to the three realms, the aspects of enlightenment, etc., which are taught, because these are made by the gathering and assembling of conditions.

It is because it is conditioned. The Dharma of the unconditioned is that which has no birth and no destruction, and abiding does not manifest as changing to something else. For example, it is said that the exhaustion of desire and so on. These are solely unconditioned because they do not depend on causes and conditions. The common Dharma is what is said such as the four dhyanas. These are common Dharmas because they also arise in other continuums. The uncommon Dharma is what is said such as the thirty-seven wings of enlightenment and the ten powers of the Tathagata. These are uncommon because they only arise in the continuum of the perfectly complete Buddha. Those who think that the Dharmadhatu itself is the object of focus, how can the purity of their object of focus become more and more excellent? It should be explained. If it is said: "The water element, gold, and space, I wish to be pure as purity." If so, since there is no abandonment of the discriminating thoughts of incompatibility and the opposing side, purity will become one-sided. Because it is said in the Perfection of Wisdom in the Diamond Cutter Sutra that Subhuti has no object of focus for the knowledge of all aspects, then in your school, the object of focus will not become the ultimate of purity, will it? Why is that? Because all dharmas are merely illusions. Subhuti, the two are real, non-duality is unreal. It will be explained like this. If it is said, what else could the two be other than illusions? Attachment is the characteristic of duality, but it is not an illusion, because it is not said to be the nature of the grasper and the grasped. Therefore, you are completely deluded here. Thus, that which is primarily nature is the lineage, and that which is primarily transformation is the object of focus. Since neither is prevented from being either, therefore, the distinction of the characteristics of the support and the object of focus, and the attainment of the ultimate of the purity of the object of focus are also reasonable. Therefore, Subhuti, the Bodhisattva's non-attachment to all dharmas, and existence
