If one is accustomed to it, then in rivers, ponds, puddles, etc., water will appear simply because it has not been done. Similarly, in places where forest fires burn and smoke billows, it is simply fire. For light moved by the wind, vine leaves, etc., observing the wind and thinking that the wind is what most often appears in this place, that is wind. Flowers, jewels, silk, etc., laid out in blue, it is simply blue. When they become yellow, red, white, it is simply yellow, etc. The power of color, such as earth, wind, the mandala of the moon, etc., it is simply white. The moonlight and sunlight entering through windows, etc., the halo of light formed on the walls and ground, and those appearing from the gaps in the leaves, simply the spots of moonlight and sunlight produced in the four places, observing these spots, that is simply discriminating awareness. In windows, holes in walls, etc., simply the sky will arise. If one has not practiced before, it will not arise in this way for a beginner, so one should understand the difference of complete practice. Therefore, filling any container such as a begging bowl or bowl with clean water without differences in colors such as blue, water falling from the sky or dripping from a completely clean water filter, and then dwelling in a suitable place, abiding comfortably, one should begin to contemplate: this is simply the complete practice of water. Cutting oily and pithy wood into pieces, piling them up in an unsuitable place such as by a tree or in a guest room, like piling up earth. Burning holes one finger high and four fingers wide everywhere, spreading leather or any mat in front, abiding comfortably, thinking of wood and grass below and birds flying above, and grasping the reason that a thick fire is burning in the middle: this is simply the complete practice of fire. If not, one can also do this: in a hole in the wall, or that hole in the window, or abiding nearby, in any direction of the limbs

One should focus one's mindfulness on the touch of the wind. This is the complete purification of the wind kasina. Any of the following should be spread out to fill the space: blue lotuses, girikarnika and other flowers with stems, bright stamens, cloths, vessels, blue jade bowls, and so on. Alternatively, on a blue cloth stretched like the surface of a large drum, one should create a mandala, either painted or unpainted, with any of the following pigments: indigo, blue palasha, blue eye medicine, and so on. Then, it should be completely separated with a contrasting color, such as black. After that, one should sit comfortably on a seat between it and the sun, and allow the mind to engage. This is the complete purification of the blue kasina. The same method applies to the yellow, red, and white kasinas. The difference is that what is referred to here as blue is regarded as yellow, etc., in those kasinas. Furthermore, light a candle inside a pot, seal the opening, and make a hole in it that is not too large. Place it facing a wall, and then contemplate the mandala of light that arises from the candle's light creating an image on the wall that lasts for a long time. This is the complete purification of the consciousness kasina. In a place covered with a wall, fence, or felt, etc., make a hole one span and four fingers wide, and then allow the mind to engage. This complete enclosure is the complete purification of the space kasina. It should be understood that these are, for the time being, the distinguishing features of the purification of these kasinas. Whether done or not done, these kasinas, in all nine aspects, give rise to two signs called grasping and appearance. Among them, the grasping sign of the water kasina is: a state of being mixed with foam and bubbles, appearing to be moving in such a way, and remaining close. If effort is made, that fault can be abandoned; if not, it is a fault. If not done, it will be considered a fault of the kasina. The appearance sign is: like a jewel wind banner situated in the sky, or like a mandala of a jewel-like mirror, it remains close, having a completely unmoving appearance. The grasping sign of the fire kasina also moves as if breaking and falling.
