What is knowing, and what is knowing the unborn? Answer: Exhaustion and non-arising, these should be known in order. Thus it is said. As it is said: O Kaundinya, whoever desires to exhaust the Perfection of Wisdom, it is as if desiring to exhaust the sky. Extensively speaking of exhaustion. And also saying: These dharmas are without arising. Saying knowing the unborn, with the arrangement of perfect enlightenment as a close arrangement, thus it is said. How should one have faith in this? Answer: Showing the great tongue that is worthy of speaking the truth, and also the noble Kaundinya and others, must be combined with the teaching of the Perfection of Wisdom and so on. By holding this, one holds all the dharmas of the doors of dharani and samadhi, thus it is said. And how is it that knowing exhaustion is of the nature of non-exhaustion, and not of the nature of the destruction of things? Answer: Because even at the time of practice, it starts from "Subhuti! Because form is inexhaustible, the Perfection of Wisdom should be realized," and has the unmixed dharma until abiding in the heart of Bodhi, and the dependent arising is like the sky, the unknowable realization of exhaustion, observing that is the establishment of the wisdom of all-knowingness. Such observation is the meaning of clarifying the path of seeing by abandoning all clinging to self and dharma. When the Bodhisattva acts in this way, using the example of a man whose parents have not died, the demons think that they have gone beyond their own realm of activity, and have the arrow of sorrow, thus it is said. Why is it that some exhaustion or non-arising is not knowing exhaustion and non-arising? Therefore it is said: In the nature of non-cessation, by the path called seeing, what kind of conceptual thought is exhausted? What kind of unborn aspect is attained? This is to say that for those who, with the thought of the destruction of things, know exhaustion as exhaustion, and for those who, with the thought of the non-arising of future things, say that they know the non-arising, here one should ask them, what kind of thing is exhausted, or what kind of non-arising is attained?

Furthermore, it is said: Other dharmas also exist, and they also reveal what is to be known. Whatever speaks of the exhaustion of obscurations, I consider that to be marvelous. Thus it is said. Therefore, there is nothing here that needs to be clarified, nor is there anything that needs to be established. To see reality as it is, and to be liberated upon seeing it as it is, this is good. That is also the path of seeing in a single moment, as it is said: Each of the giving and so forth, whatever gathers those together, with the forbearance of a single moment, that which is gathered is the path of seeing here. Thus it is said. As the Blessed One said, "Subhuti, here the Bodhisattva Mahasattva dedicates the giving to omniscience, practices giving, and thus practices," up to the practice of the Perfection of Wisdom, the six perfections are completed. Likewise, abiding in the Perfection of Giving, up to abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, each of the six in between becomes six groups, the thirty-six kinds are all mainly with the three circles completely pure, and it is said that all are gathered together. The sutra for this is: "Subhuti, here the Bodhisattva Mahasattva practices giving, and abides in the loving body, speech, and mind of beings, this is the Perfection of Morality. Enduring the abuse and conduct of those who receive, this is the Perfection of Patience. Not abandoning the joy of giving when abused and reviled by beggars and so forth, this is the Perfection of Diligence. Dedicating that giving to omniscience, without the distracted mind of hearers and solitary realizers, this is the Perfection of Concentration. When giving, abiding with an illusory mind, not seeing benefit or harm, this is the Perfection of Wisdom." Likewise, from keeping morality to meditating on wisdom, each of the six perfections is completely gathered, this is the sutra.
