Why is that? Because it is extremely pure, it is said to be without self and unattainable. Because the examination of valid cognition is its antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to a single self is what is said from 'Shariputra, form is not to be found' to 'consciousness is not to be found,' because the meaning of aggregates is the side of the antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to the self as a cause is what is said from 'Shariputra, the eye is not to be found' to 'likewise, up to the mind,' and 'form is not to be found' to 'up to phenomena are not to be found.' Because the meaning of the sense fields is its antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to the self as the agent, etc., is what is said from 'Shariputra, the eye and form and eye-consciousness are not to be found' to 'up to the mind and phenomena and mind-consciousness are not to be found,' because the meaning of the elements is the side of its antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to the self as the basis of all afflictions is what is said from 'Shariputra, dependent origination is not to be found' to 'the formless realm is not to be found.' Because the meaning of dependent origination is its antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to the self as the basis of detachment is what is said from 'the first dhyana is not to be found' to 'the formless attainments are not to be found.' Because the meaning of detachment, which is the true transcendence from focusing on the limbs of dhyana and the formless realms, is its antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to the self as the basis of seeing is what is said as 'the noble truths are not to be found,' because the meaning of seeing the truths is its antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to the self as the basis of meditation is what is said as 'the eight liberations and the nine successive abidings are not to be found,' because the meaning of meditation, which is the direct realization of the bodily ground, is its antidote. The conceptualization of clinging to the self as the basis of action is what is said as 'the ten powers are not to be found.'

The omniscience of the ground is unattainable. How is it unattainable? Because of its self-nature. Why is that? Because its self-nature is utterly pure. As it is said, it should be said to all. The first conceptualization of clinging to the basis of a person who exists as a real entity has already been explained. Because the second conceptualization of clinging to the basis of what is nominally designated as a person is to be spoken, therefore, in order to place it nearby. World-Honored One, someone asks this: Will a person of illusion train in the Perfection of Wisdom and become omniscient, or will he attain omniscience? As it is asked, as it is said in between, etc. That is nine aspects, the conceptualization of the aggregates being nominally existent is: Subhuti, what do you think? Is form also other, and illusion also other? And so on, is consciousness also other, and illusion also other? Answer: World-Honored One, it is not like that. As it is said in between, etc., because form, etc., by the nature of being without real entities, there is no meaning of abandonment. The conceptualization of the sense bases being nominally existent is: Subhuti, what do you think? Is the eye also other, and illusion also other? And so on, is the mind also other, and illusion also other? Answer: World-Honored One, it is not like that. As it is said, because the eye, etc., by the nature of being without real entities, there is no meaning of the gate of birth. The conceptualization of the elements being nominally existent is: Subhuti, what do you think? Are the eye and form and eye consciousness also other, and illusion also other? As it is said, etc., because they, by the nature of being without real entities, there is no meaning of lineage. The conceptualization of dependent origination being nominally existent is: Subhuti, what do you think? Is dependent origination also other, and illusion also other? As it is said, etc., because ignorance, etc., which is the emptiness of self-nature, has no meaning of arising in each condition and assembly. Purification being nominally existent
