It is not for the sake of achieving accomplishment that one makes that the reason, but repeatedly contemplating "earth" should be established as the earth kasina. Similarly, for the remaining nine kasinas, such as water, one should also view it in this way. For those who have previously become accustomed to meditation, the water kasina will arise only in rivers, ponds, pools, and so forth. Similarly, in places where forests are burning and smoke is billowing, it is the fire kasina. For light shadows moved by the wind and the leaves of vines, and so forth, observing that the wind is the best mover in this place is the wind kasina. When blue flowers, jewels, cloths, and so forth are laid out, it is the blue kasina. When those same become yellow, red, and white, it is the yellow kasina, and so forth. For the power of color, that is, earth, wind, the mandala of the moon, and so forth, it is the white kasina. Observing the spots of moonlight and sunlight that arise in the four directions only from within the moonlight and sunlight that enter inside windows and so forth, and in the mandalas of light that arise on walls and the ground, and from within clusters of tree leaves, is the kasina of complete knowledge. In windows and holes in walls, and so forth, the space kasina will arise. For those who have not previously become accustomed to meditation, for beginners, it will not arise in this way, therefore one should understand the difference of complete practice. Therefore, one should fill any kind of vessel, such as a begging bowl or a bowl, with pure water that is free from distinctions of blue and other colors, water that has fallen from the sky or drips from a completely clean water filter, and then sit in a suitable place, abide comfortably, and begin to contemplate; this is the complete practice of the water kasina. Cutting oily and pithy wood into pieces, piling them up incompatibly either near a tree or in a guest room, in the manner of a potter piling up clay. Lighting all the holes that are the measure of one cubit and four fingers in height, spreading out leather or any type of mat in front, abiding comfortably, placing wood and grass underneath and on top

One should think of flying upwards, and take the thick burning flame in the center as the reason. This is the complete purification of the exhaustion of fire. If there is none, it can be done by sitting near a hole in the wall, or a hole in its window. Wherever on the limbs one feels the touch of the wind, one should fix one's mindfulness there. This is the complete purification of the exhaustion of wind. Any of the blue lotuses, girikarnis, etc., that are spreading, as well as bright stamens, clothes, vessels, and lapis lazuli flowers, etc., should be filled by spreading them out, or similarly, a blue cloth should be stretched like the surface of a large drum, and painted with any kind of paint, such as nilakanga, blue palasha, blue eye medicine, etc., or a mandala that does not move should be drawn, and then completely separated with a different color such as black. One should sit on a comfortable cushion between that and the sun, and begin to contemplate. This is the complete purification of the exhaustion of blue. The same applies to the exhaustion of yellow, red, and white. The difference here is that whatever is blue is considered to be the color of yellow, etc. Also, light a butter lamp inside a vase, seal the mouth, and then make a hole in it that is not too large. Place it facing the wall, and contemplate the mandala of appearance that is created on the wall by the light of the butter lamp that comes out of it, if it can be maintained for a long time. This is the complete purification of the exhaustion of individual consciousness. In a place covered with a wall, fence, or felt, etc., make a hole that is a span and four fingers high, and then begin to contemplate. This complete separation is the complete purification of the exhaustion of space. In that way, for the time being, one should understand that these are the distinctions of complete purification. Whether done or not done, for all nine exhaustions, two signs called grasping and appearance will arise. Among them, the grasping sign of the exhaustion of water is: foam and bubbles mixed together, appearing in a swaying form, becoming the same as that form, and approaching. If one strives, one can eliminate that fault, but if one does not strive, it is a fault. If one does not strive, it will be considered a fault of exhaustion. The appearance of
