These are not, in that way, completely transcended from the limbs such as investigation. For these, the first is transcendence from the characteristic of form. Transcendence of space is the second. Transcendence of consciousness entering space is the third. Transcendence of the non-existence of the entity of consciousness entering space is the fourth. Therefore, in all these, one attains complete transcendence from the object. It is not complete transcendence from the limbs, but by means of equanimity and one-pointedness of mind, all these possess two limbs. Just as four pieces of cloth woven from coarse, fine, very fine, and extremely fine down, which are equal in width, although there is no difference in size, are comfortable to the touch, light in texture, and of great value, the latter becoming more and more magnificent than the former, so too, these, although there is no difference in limbs, are to be understood as the latter being more abundant, very magnificent, and extremely magnificent than the former, because they have become the nature of subtlety and peace. The remaining explanation of liberation is, as it is said, the complete realization of all aspects. The nine successive abidings of meditative absorption are the four dhyanas, the four formless absorptions, and the cessation absorption. The ten kasinas are: earth, water, fire, wind, blue, yellow, red, white, these are the eight kasinas, and kasina consciousness and kasina space. Among these, kasina earth is when a yogi, having arisen from the samadhi of the first dhyana, which has become mastered through practice, thinks that this meditative absorption is the antidote to the obscuration of near-abiding, and also because it is only coarse investigation, it is also a weak limb, having seen that fault, he thinks that the second dhyana is peaceful, and without completely grasping the first dhyana, in order to attain the second, for the limbs, investigation is coarse, and for examination and so on, it is near-abiding peace. This is for abandoning the coarse limb and the peaceful limb.
