, as well as lightness of body and mind, skillful means of enjoying desires, constant celibacy, purity of feelings, obstacles such as aggregates, and collections and faculties, etc. Fighting, stinginess, etc., the combination and subsequent combination of, abiding separately prohibited, the Dharma does not see even a mote of dust. One who is determined in his own ground, abides in the three grounds, gives up his life for the sake of the Dharma. Such sixteen moments are the signs of non-retrogression of the wise one's path of seeing. The characteristics of the non-retrogressing Bodhisattva Sangha abiding in the path of seeing have been explained. Now, the signs of abiding in the path of meditation are to be stated, therefore. The path of meditation is profound, as it is said. As the Blessed One said, "Please explain well the profound and profound places." Repeating and saying is the meaning of repeatedly practicing meditation. The word "place" is said to be abiding, which means that it shows that it has continuity. Where does the great Bodhisattva abide, from the four mindfulnesses to the complete accomplishment of the eighteen unshared Dharmas of the Buddha, which means that it is known to be the cause of complete and unreserved realization. Again, what is the profundity of this? Profound emptiness, etc., as it is said. It is emptiness, as well as no sign, as well as no wish, as well as no manifestation of action, as well as no birth, as well as detachment from desire, as well as cessation, as well as peace, as well as suchness, as well as the true end, all that is said is the nature of the profound place. Why is emptiness, etc., profound? The profound is the nature of being liberated from the extremes of superimposition and slander. As it is said. Among them, liberation from the extreme of superimposition is this, also removing from form, and in suchness there is no form, all that is said. Among them, liberation from the extreme of slander is this, also showing Nirvana, and there is no suchness outside of form, all that is said.

Yes. Thus, by averting from all dharmas and truly showing nirvana, it reveals the profound state of form and so on. Furthermore, what is the path of meditation? "The part of ascertainment and the seeing, The path and the path of meditation itself, Again and again contemplating, Measuring and definitely realizing is the path of meditation." It is said that at any time, these profound states associated with the Perfection of Wisdom are shown for the purpose of averting what is nearly needed, so it is said. To contemplate and act is through the wisdom of the nature of hearing. To measure is through the wisdom of the nature of thinking. To definitely realize is through the wisdom of the nature of meditation. Furthermore, what is the object of the path of meditation? "The part of ascertainment and the seeing, The path and the path of meditation itself." It is said, "I should abide thus," which is said from the perspective of the part of ascertainment, as shown in the Perfection of Wisdom. "I should train thus," which is said from the perspective of the path of seeing, as stated in the Perfection of Wisdom. "I should accomplish thus," which is said from the perspective of the path of meditation, as stated in the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, relying on the four parts of ascertainment, the path of seeing, and the path of meditation, to accomplish accordingly, to definitely realize accordingly, to nearly realize accordingly, to strive accordingly, to combine accordingly, and to endeavor accordingly, these six words are spoken. How is it that abiding in the path of meditation itself is the object? Because it is continuous, the later object is the former, so there is no fault. The three benefits of the path of meditation are: from completely holding the immeasurable roots of virtue, by the example of a man who has intercourse with other women, immeasurable merit is born, thereby abandoning samsara for immeasurable kalpas, turning away, and becoming the end.
