DTG079 0003.A Difficult Commentary on the Guru's Adoration..g2.0f

English

Even a householder or a newly ordained teacher should be prostrated to by a bhikshu in every way. As it is said in the Hevajra Tantra: "Whether a disciple is accomplished or not, in order to abandon the cause of uninterrupted hell, one should prostrate to the master who is the light of true wisdom." If that is the case, what is the need to place the sacred Dharma and so on in front? It is said that "harm to the world" is what harms worldly people, and it is to abandon and eliminate those things that frustrate beings, so it is to abandon harm to the world. Then, do those who begin to prostrate to their own guru cause harm to the world? Yes, it does. How does it cause harm? Because most people in the world do not hear the scriptures and do not understand the ultimate Dharma, they do not fully understand abiding in the ultimate Dharma. Therefore, they think that it is not appropriate to serve a teacher who is a bhikshu. Therefore, their prostration to householders will frustrate the ordained, and frustration will cause the world to turn away. The world turning away will also cause the world's gains and respect to diminish. When there is no faith, gains and respect will be sought through suffering, and suffering is the ultimate in the world. When prostrating out of fear of harm to the world such as not having gains and respect, it is not meaningless to place the sacred Dharma and so on in front. If so, in order to indicate what should be done, it is said in the sutra "laying out a seat" and so on, and it is connected by saying "the one with vows should do everything." The one with vows is the one who holds vows, and what should be done is to practice. Then, what does this "everything" refer to? It refers to "laying out a seat" and so on. Because it is to sit here, it is a seat, that is, a seat of hemp, Suroga, etc. Laying out the seat is to first display it, and standing up is to strive for that purpose. Or, standing up is truly standing up, it means standing and sitting. The seat is also strength, and standing up is also, so it is laying out the seat and standing up. It is also said: mother and father and

To the Lama, whoever does not rise, will be condemned by the whole world, and will become like the lowest. So it is said. The so-called "meaningful activity" means doing things of substance, which is meaningful activity. Increase and growth are also meanings. Among them, increase is due to giving, etc., and growth is due to trade, etc. The word "etc." also includes protection, etc. Or, "meaning" refers to clothes and cushions, and "activity" refers to diligence. The word "etc." refers to covering up coughing, spitting, blowing one's nose, etc. "Serving and respecting" means respecting and having faith in the Lama, which means that the activity of meaning, etc., belongs to someone, that is the activity of meaning, etc. That is both the activity of meaning, etc., and serving and respecting, so it is the activity of meaning, etc., serving and respecting. Or, these words are in reverse order. Or, both doing meaning and serving and respecting, so it is the activity of meaning, etc., serving and respecting. "All" means without remainder, and the word "that" must be grasped. After doing all these, one should be without the pride of a disciplined person, so think. It is also said: Therefore, only निश्चित(Sanskrit Devanagari: निश्चित, Sanskrit Romanization: niścita, Chinese literal meaning: certain) rely on discipline to do all this. Likewise, with inner and outer, always yoga delights in offerings. Prostrations and all actions, should be done at all times. After thoroughly examining in this way, serve and respect all the Lamas. However, do not think of form, youth, and perfection, enjoyment, power, and strength, birth, and lineage, and abandon all pride. For all these parts of craftsmanship, do not hold in your mind that you are wise and virtuous, and that I am the protector of the earth благо(Sanskrit Devanagari: благо, Sanskrit Romanization: blago, Chinese literal meaning: auspicious). So it is said. How to do it? Abandon non- священный(Sanskrit Devanagari: священный, Sanskrit Romanization: svjaščennyj, Chinese literal meaning: sacred) actions. It is said that actions that harm body, speech, and mind are called non- священный(Sanskrit Devanagari: священный, Sanskrit Romanization: svjaščennyj, Chinese literal meaning: sacred), and unsightly actions are the cause of sin. This is both non- священный(Sanskrit Devanagari: священный, Sanskrit Romanization: svjaščennyj, Chinese literal meaning: sacred) and an action, so it is a non- священный(Sanskrit Devanagari: священный, Sanskrit Romanization: svjaščennyj, Chinese literal meaning: sacred) action, which means non-virtue such as killing. So, when should all these things, such as laying out cushions, be done? After prostrating, it is said, respectfully speaking. Read as the action of non- священный(Sanskrit Devanagari: священный, Sanskrit Romanization: svjaščennyj, Chinese literal meaning: sacred) action.

Here, it is both action and reverence. It is also non-sacred, and it is the action of reverence, therefore it is the non-sacred action of reverence. The non-sacred has already been explained. Non-sacred reverence is merely joining the palms to indicate disrespect beforehand. Alternatively, non-sacred is the reverence of ordinary people. For example, sweeping away old leaves, bending down to pick up fallen fruits, and so on, are non-sacred actions. Merely bowing the head is non-sacred reverence. Others are called non-sacred actions and reverence. Non-sacred actions include washing feet, and the reverence of joining the eight limbs, abandoning these two, all actions should be done. Thus, after explaining the various distinctions of the lama, with words such as "teacher," it is said that the lama and disciples should be fully examined. The relationship between teacher and disciple is to establish a relationship first. Due to closeness, the disciple calls the lama "teacher," that is, the lama and the disciples. The relationship between teacher and disciple is association. The relationship between teacher and disciple needs to be examined, needs to be studied. Who should examine? It is said that the brave should, meaning those who are wise and knowledgeable. The meaning here is: the lama should first, through clothing, speech, behavior, and so on, fully examine whether this person is pure in thought or impure. It should also be considered whether this person is worth associating with. One should also ask the people near his home about his behavior, and after examining, decide whether he should be accepted. This method of examination should also be used for a full examination. By fully examining in this way, one can understand the thoughts of worldly people. Because clothing, signs, and behavior, as well as speech, can be used to understand a person. Through the eyes and facial expressions, one can understand his inner thoughts. It is also said in the scriptures. So, what is the need for a full examination? Because most worldly people's thoughts are not pure, they do not serve the lama, they only think of themselves, and act as they please like a king.
