A Difficult Commentary on the Guru's Adoration. A Difficult Commentary on the Guru's Adoration. In Sanskrit: Gurvā rādhanā pañcikā (गुरु आराधना पञ्चिका, Guru Adoration Fivefold). In Tibetan: A Difficult Commentary on the Guru's Adoration. Homage to Manjuvajra! The very nature of all Buddhas, Possessing the qualities of all qualities, Having paid homage to the Guru who is worthy of the highest, I shall speak of the difficult commentary on the Guru's Adoration. Since other desired deities do not accomplish the desired fruit, By closely showing what is to be said, one should engage in the practice that precedes the supreme desire. By the words "to be listened to," the verses that initially show the master's instructions, which are to be kept in mind, are spoken. The glorious Vajrasattva and so forth are spoken. The first line of this shows the purpose. The second shows the offering to the desired deity. The third and fourth show what is to be said. The relationship between the characteristics of what is to be said and what is said is within the text itself, and therefore it is not spoken of separately, which is the general meaning. The meaning of the limbs should also be spoken of, connecting with "having bowed to the lotus feet of the Guru." "Guru" is because he bestows the profound and vast Dharma instructions, and because he is the other shore by generating benefit and happiness, it is reasonable to offer worship and respect, therefore he is the Guru. His feet are also lotus flowers, so they are lotus feet. Having bowed to him is to pay homage. How is it? It is explained by the word "as it is," How is it reasonable without exceeding the order of the ritual, Especially with joy, with a subdued demeanor and so forth, preceded by a mandala. This "lotus feet of the Guru" shows praise. "Having bowed" shows homage. These show the three types of offerings, Homage is of the body, Praise is of speech, Body and speech proceed with mind preceding them, therefore the offering of mind is shown by implication. If the Buddhas and so forth are desired deities, how is the Guru one's own supreme desire? Here the Guru is the desired deity, because of his excellence.

Because it is the nature body of all Buddhas. Thinking of such a protector who is about to be taught, and so on. Therefore, offering to the Lama is the sole agent of liberation. So, after prostrating to the lotus feet of the Lama, what should be done? It is said "Immaculate," immaculate because it is completely pure and without fault. Or, this does not have the impurity of non-virtue, the so-called impurity, which means the cause of being free from impurity. However, are these not merely speculated by one's own mind? It is not so, it is explained by "spoken from many Tantras," Tantra is continuous, and it is also divided into three types by the difference of cause, etc., namely cause, effect, and means. Among them, the difference of lineage is the Tantra of cause, because the sentient beings with lineage are very numerous, so it is said to be continuous. The difference of the great Vajradhara who has transformed from the difference of lineage into the fruit is the Tantra of the fruit, because it is the nature of the infinite Buddhadharma. In order to accomplish the fruit from the cause, the conditions such as pillows, mudras, and mandalas are the Tantra of means, because the rituals of great means such as mantras and mudras are immeasurable. That is also divided into many rituals by the difference of the main body, namely Kriya, Charya, Yoga, Anuttarayoga, and Anuttaratara Tantras, those are all interconnected. What is proclaimed and narrated in many Tantras is what is spoken from many Tantras. Then, someone doubts that because the Bhagavan himself has said it in that and that, there is no need to create this. The answer is, it is said to be briefly narrated, in order to benefit the beings who are afraid of seeing many Tantras, from many Tantras, without omission, extracted and gathered together, here it is clearly stated, that is what is intended. This refers to the detailed explanation of relying on the desired Lama. In that way, this is to connect those sentient beings who are fortunate to hear it, so it is said "Listen."
