Like impure things, even decorated vases give rise to attachment. The ignorant and foolish of the world are the same towards women. The body is rotten and extremely smelly, what is the cause of detachment? If the world is extremely attached to that, how can one be freed from attachment? Just as dogs and pigs are extremely attached to the accumulation of feces and urine, Likewise, those with strong desires are attached to the accumulation of feces and urine. The city of the body is impure, the place where holes arise, that is regarded by foolish beings as a proximate cause of happiness. You yourself, after seeing feces, urine, etc., as individually impure, how can the body composed of these become pleasing? Blood and semen mixed together, born from an impure seed as the cause. Knowing that it is an impure form, what desire arises for this? The moisture of that impure heap, what is moistened and covered by skin, sleeping that is just a woman, sleeping with the belly connected. Whether the appearance is beautiful or ugly, whether old or young, when all women's bodies are impure, what difference does your attachment make? If the impure color is good, very bright and the shape is good, just as one should not be attached to that, so it is with the body of a woman. The inside is rotten and the outside is covered with skin, the nature of this decaying corpse is, when it appears extremely unpleasant, have you not seen it as impure? This vase filled with impurity, even if the outside is bright, is despised, the body of impure nature, why not despise it when it is full of impurity? Just as the body of a woman is impure, your own body is the same as it. Therefore, is it not reasonable to be free from attachment to both the outside and the inside? The body with nine wounds dripping, even though one clearly washes oneself, yet not realizing that the body is impure, what benefit is there in telling you? Thus it is said. Furthermore, one should also understand from the Prajnaparamita Sutra and the Ratnamegha Sutra. As it is said in the Salu Tree Sutra, both external dependent origination and internal dependent origination should be observed with the eye of wisdom. Thus, love, compassion, impurity, and the meaning of dependent origination should all be kept in mind. Below, Vipassana will be practiced.

At that time, in general, all samādhis have six faults: laziness, forgetting the object, excitement, dullness, non-application and application. As an antidote to these, cultivate the eight exertions of abandonment. These are: faith, desire, diligence, pliancy, mindfulness, awareness, attention, and equanimity. The first four are the antidote to laziness. For example, faith, which has the characteristic of having great confidence in the qualities of samādhi, causes yogis to develop desire for it. Then, desire initiates diligence. By the power of diligence, the body and mind become workable. Then, because the body and mind become very pliant, laziness recedes. Therefore, faith and so on are the antidote to abandoning laziness. Mindfulness is the antidote to forgetting the object. Awareness is the antidote to excitement and dullness, because it is necessary to correctly understand excitement and dullness. When excitement and dullness have not completely subsided, it is the antidote to non-application. As an antidote to this, cultivate attention. When excitement and dullness have completely subsided, when the mind naturally abides, application is a fault. As an antidote to this, at that time cultivate equanimity. If one possesses these eight exertions of abandonment, samādhi will become very faultless. If samādhi is faultless, one will accomplish benefits such as miraculous powers. Thus, when the mind becomes workable, one should enter into the meaning of the two truths, as it is said in the Root Wisdom: The Buddhas teach the Dharma based on two truths: the conventional truth and the ultimate truth. Those who do not know the distinction between the two truths do not know the profound reality of the Buddhas' teachings. Therefore, there are two kinds of conventional truth: the correct conventional and the false conventional. Among them, the correct conventional is something that is pleasing when not examined and is able to function. The false conventional is empty of functioning as it appears. The ultimate truth is self-
