Furthermore, in the hot hells, coolness is bestowed by raining down hail-like coolness and incense rain, etc. In the cold hells, warmth is bestowed by conjuring up piles of fire, etc. Likewise, to various sentient beings, various teachings are shown. To beings such as gods, humans, and asuras with various inclinations, and to those with various languages, various teachings are shown according to their respective inclinations in their own languages. Like a great medicinal tree, seeing, hearing, touching, and remembering all bring benefit. For example, just as a great medicinal tree benefits in any way, whether it is cut down with hatred or cut down with joy, so too, for an accomplished being, whether it is with the attachment of sentient beings or with hatred, whether it is seen with the eyes, heard with the ears, touched with the body, or remembered with the mind, benefit will arise in any way. Having thus shown what the conduct of an accomplished one is like, in order to show how long it takes to accomplish, the question is asked: What is the time of accomplishment? After being asked, it is said: When the causes and conditions are complete. That is to say, with a body born from many good deeds of the past, and with speech and mind, possessing a basis suitable for becoming the abode of many qualities, and learning the three types of conduct well in order, this is the completeness of causes and conditions. Moreover, if one is constantly reciting and meditating, and is an ascetic with faith in the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, then their accomplishment will be attained in this very life. Therefore, constantly reciting and meditating, and being an ascetic with faith in the Victorious Ones and their retinues, their accomplishment will be attained in this very life. Thus it is said. Even if one possesses the cause, but lacks some conditions, like a medicinal
