Offering to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Offering means to please them. For them, what is needed is offering. What is needed is to accomplish the benefit of oneself and others. If there are resources, then offer with real objects. If there are no resources, then like in the Good Aeon, rely on flower garlands etc., and offer to the teacher. If offering with the mind, then offer objects that are elsewhere, as well as body and mind etc. Offer with the seven types of offerings: cool the holy body with clean water, wipe the holy body with fine cloth, offer flower garlands with Mandarava flowers etc., offer with the sound of cymbals, offer incense with sandalwood, agarwood, camphor, musk, and great incense etc., offer shining jewels, or one, ten, a hundred, or a thousand lamp garlands, anoint the body with sandalwood etc. fragrances, offer rice, bean rice, wheat rice, barley rice, yogurt, butter, dried meat, dried fish, pickled fish, coconut, mango, loquat etc. fruits, as well as ginseng fruit, white mustard, radish, Bael tree roots etc. roots and stems, as well as potatoes, gourds etc. Offer with conch shells etc. instruments, according to the order of musical sounds. Offer the seven precious jewels, the eight auspicious symbols, springs, forests, gardens, grasslands, lakes, lotuses etc., as well as all objects seen by eye consciousness and heard by ear consciousness, offer with wisdom and real objects. The Akashagarbha Sutra says: Generate two minds and offer to the Buddha, with offerings and wealth, pleasing the Buddhas and Buddha's sons, one can accomplish the benefit of sentient beings. Thus it is said. Praise is also as before, praising means to please, and what is needed by them. To the Buddhas and Buddha's sons of all times and places, those who dwell in the world realms, those who abide to guide sentient beings, praise those who possess the marks of the holy body, praise those who possess loving hearts. Thus, in the Mahayana Sutra, praise is made by praising the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Make a general statement with connection. Prostration is also like the previous six, in the Mahayana Sutra, either make three prostrations, or from seven prostrations up to a thousand or ten thousand prostrations. Refuge, there are two types: real refuge and classified refuge.

Sa. The main part has three aspects. Having understood the preliminary preparations for taking refuge. Please consider me, teacher. I, named so-and-so, from this time until reaching the essence of enlightenment. I take refuge in the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, the Bhagavan. I take refuge in the peaceful, great Dharma free from desire. I take refuge in the Sangha of noble, irreversible Bodhisattvas who protect all. Recite this three times. There are eight distinctions. The faculties and the object of refuge are like those of the Shravakas. Seven are the same as others, namely, faith in the Dharma of the Great Vehicle and others. The application of body, speech, and mind is as before, and also, taking refuge. The mind is the support, understanding the Buddha as the Nirmanakaya, the Dharma as the Prajnaparamita, and the Sangha as Manjushri, etc. The offerings are as before. The time is without end or until enlightenment. The qualities are liberation from Samsara and the ability to benefit others. The practice begins with entering the conduct, because you have taken me with your compassion. Fearlessly benefit sentient beings in existence. By these means. The actions of non-decline are to perform the work of benefiting others on top of the abandonment of the mundane above, to abandon killing and not harm others, and not to associate with heretics, Shravakas, and Pratyekabuddhas. Confession of sins, the basis and before the abbot. I, named so-and-so. From beginningless time, I have wandered in Samsara. Extremely ignorant, sinful actions. Various things I have done and caused to be done. I confess that I rejoice in what has been done. Confess as it is taught in other Sutras. The order of rejoicing is also as in other Sutras. In this world and others. The virtue practiced by beings. And also the happiness that comes from its power. I deeply rejoice. The virtue of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. And also the practice of Bodhisattvas. I will definitely rejoice today. Whatever deeds the Buddhas have done. And I rejoice in the happiness of sentient beings. Encouragement. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. I urge those assemblies. Do not abandon sentient beings to their own devices. Subdue their minds with Dharma and turn the wheel. Supplication. All Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions
