Because it is originally one, devoid of the nature of many, without self-nature, like an image, it is said. Furthermore, in other scriptures, it is said: Whatever is considered a real object, that and that do not have oneness. For what does not have oneness, how can there be many? It is said. Also, in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning," it says: Whatever arises from a cause, cannot exist without conditions. Because there are no conditions, it will be destroyed. How can one know that it exists? It is said. And again, in the same text, it says: Whatever arises dependent on this and that, does not arise with its own essence. Whatever does not arise with its own essence, how can one say that it arises? It is said. Here, the meaning of the summary is this: "This and that" is a word with an added meaning. Because whatever arises dependent on causes such as earth, is dependent on the cause, in reality, it is not born of its own essence. To understand it in that way is called seeing dependent arising. Therefore, in the "Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning," it says: Arising from dependent arising, not arising, this is what the supreme speaker said. It is said. Furthermore, in order to clarify this very meaning, the venerable Nagarjuna in the "Praise Beyond the World" says: Those that arise from causes, if they are absent because of the absence of that, those are like images, why not consider them clear? Arising is not something that can be grasped by the eye. What is it like if it does not arise from that? You have spoken of form in that way, preventing the grasping of form. It is said. Question: Dependent arising is because it is devoid of self-nature. Let's allow for now that the shown aggregates of form do not exist. But the subtle particles that compose form, because they are extremely subtle, and because they are the permanence of formlessness, and because they are uniqueness, how can that not exist? Therefore, it must be said: The six together gather, and similarly, due to the difference in direction, the subtle particle is established as having six directional parts. Whatever has directional parts should not be oneness. Master Vasubandhu said: How can the
