Through the stages of meditation, by the power of cultivating diligence, it will not be long before one attains the unsurpassed wisdom in this very life. Moreover, the Bhagavan said: 'To accomplish the benefit of oneself and others, there is no other means.' and so on. Someone asks: 'The truth of suffering and other things are also said to be Suchness, and this wisdom is also the wisdom that transcends the world. By the very sequence of cultivating it, the wisdom of cessation and non-arising arises, therefore it is called an Arhat, who has done what is to be done, and so on. If so, how can it be said that this non-dual wisdom is the Suchness that should be accepted as one? It cannot be said that this is not the word of the Buddha. Because for the teachings of the Sugata, Suchness is the most important, and it is also accepted in the Mahayana. Or, even if these are the words of the Buddha, they are not Suchness because they do not conform to valid cognition. If this is the case, then it would be a great fault because it would mean that the all-knowing one is the unknowing one, thereby denying the Buddha. If it is not so, then who would believe in the Mahayana? This is also not non-conforming to valid cognition, because here, valid cognition has already been explained in the 'Commentary on Valid Cognition,' so it will not be elaborated here. Therefore, it is not said in the scriptures that suffering and so on are not truths, nor is it in valid cognition. Here it should be explained that, regarding what was said earlier that the truth of suffering and so on is also Suchness, for example, just like practicing impurity, the truths are taught in order to abandon afflictions, but that itself is considered the ultimate truth. Cultivating the truth does not abandon afflictions, because cultivating impurity and so on is also for abandoning desire and so on. Then, its object, such as a pile of bones, would also become Suchness, and also, at that time, focusing on the worldly path, or space and so on, would not become even a little bit of Suchness. Therefore, it is the ultimate Suchness, not suffering and so on.'
