Gro. Shifting from the birth place of animals, one will again obtain the birth place of humans. Beings are controlled by the bonds of karma, revolving like a chariot wheel. Thus it is said. Those with the characteristics as described above, children who are overwhelmed by false knowledge of beings similar to illusions, understanding them as true, therefore do not understand the teaching of dependent origination spoken by the Bhagavan. Due to the power of ignorance, with a nature of non-existence, in the seed of conceptualization of characteristics such as 'I' and 'mine,' they revolve completely in the form of aggregates and other forms. Question: The conceit of having a non-existent nature, it is not reasonable that existence itself is the seed of existence. That, indeed, is the only consciousness with the characteristic of truly knowing, which is truly present as the seed for entering into existence. Thus, because the cause is existent, the result is also existent, so it is not reasonable that there is no object. Thus, here, the teacher Dharmakirti says: This one way of truly knowing, is seen in various forms such as joy and dejection. And so on, it is extensively explained. Here it should be said that consciousness is the nature of being without inherent existence, therefore it is not reasonable to be the seed of existence in the way of existence. Consciousness exists only in name, as has been extensively explained before, but nevertheless, let us say a little. By the truth of ultimate truth, beings are empty of inherent existence, but by the power of ignorance, in the way of consciousness and 'I' and so on, by engaging closely with objects, it appears to exist as truth. That is reasonable by the logic previously stated. Because the seed is without self, what arises from it is also without self. That is also what Nagarjuna said: In the Ratnavali, the aggregates arising from grasping at self, that grasping at self is false in meaning. For what whose seed is false, where is true birth? Likewise, the teacher Aryadeva also said: The root of existence is consciousness, objects are its conduct.

It is not a place. If a place becomes without an owner, then the seed of existence will be reversed. Thus it is said. Furthermore, in order to clarify this very point, the teacher Dharmakirti, in the Pramanavarttika, said: If there is self, then there will be attachment to others. In the division of self and others, there will be complete grasping and hatred. From these two and all their connections, all faults will arise. Thus it is said. Thus, with ignorance as the cause, in this cycle of existence, due to the power of discriminating thoughts such as "I" and "mine," all faults arise, characterized by holding to one's own side and turning one's back on the other side. In order to clarify this very point with the ultimate truth, the venerable Nagarjuna said in the Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning: Those who have the nature of being the greatest without dispute, they have no sides. Those who have no sides, how can there be other sides for them? Thus it is said. It is like a painted wall. The protectors see all these things in this way. Knowing that all these elaborations are mere conceptualizations, they are unreal, without characteristics, and inexhaustible. They are merely complete conceptualizations. Thus it is said. And again, in the same text, it is said: For as long as there is conceptualization, for a while, all of that is false. When there is no conceptualization of that very nature, that is true, that is suchness. Thus it is said. Similarly, the venerable Nagarjuna said in the Twenty Verses on the Great Vehicle: By conceptualizing what is not true, one will be burned in hell and so on, like a fire that is not light, one is burned by one's own faults. Sentient beings, like illusions, completely enjoy objects. Thus, those born from dependent origination go forth in the nature of illusion. When the illusion of the magician is abandoned and drawn near to being gathered up, then nothing appears. That is the nature of the Dharma. For example, a painter draws a very frightening image of a yaksha, and just as he himself becomes frightened, so too are those who are unskilled in samsara. Just as children dig mud themselves and then fall into it, so too in the mud of complete conceptualization, white-necked beings sink, and having seen unreal things as real, they will experience various sufferings, the inverted
