It is knowledge. Wisdom is complete cutting off, as it is said. In the arising of the power of faith of the noble ones, what is skillful means? It is said that whoever is skilled in knowing the collection of all dharmas is skillful. What is wisdom? It is said that whoever is skilled in knowing all dharmas without distinction is skillful. These should also be relied upon by abiding on the ground, not just wisdom alone. Why? As it is said in the sutras such as the Ten Bhumis, "It is not that one does not practice the remaining perfections." Therefore, it is said that Bodhisattvas should practice all perfections in all ten bhumis. Moreover, in the extensive sutra that gathers all dharmas, which is made freely available to bodhisattvas who are solely delighted in the Perfection of Wisdom, Maitreya says, "Whatever bodhisattvas should properly uphold the six perfections for the sake of enlightenment, foolish people say, 'Bodhisattvas should only study the Perfection of Wisdom, what is the use of the remaining perfections?' And they think of disparaging the other perfections," and so on, it is extensively taught. Also, in the Tantra of the Manifest Complete Enlightenment of the Noble Vairochana, it is said, "This omniscient wisdom is rooted in great compassion, possesses the lineage of the mind of enlightenment, and is perfected by skillful means." Therefore, both should be cultivated at all times. Thus, the Bhagavan is established in non-abiding nirvana. Moreover, by means of generosity and other skillful means, the Bhagavan does not abide in nirvana because he holds the great enjoyment of the form body, the field, and the retinue, etc., as a perfect fruit. By wisdom, he abandons all perversions, so he does not abide in samsara, because samsara is the nature of perversion. Furthermore, it is like the saying, "Those who know the categories of dharma as like a raft should abandon even dharmas, what need is there to mention non-dharmas?" This refers to the nature of manifestly clinging to perversion.

It is said that "should be abandoned," but it is not said that one should not abide in order to accomplish the complete meaning. That is, it is said that "the Dharma should be completely grasped, and should not be left ungripped," which means that one should not grasp it in a perverse way. Therefore, all things should be viewed in this way, and what is said is: "At all times, one should rely on those who possess skillful means and the perfection of wisdom. Therefore, one will attain non-abiding nirvana." This is called "union," which is the generation of the mind, and it depends on the distinctions of heat, etc., and does not abide in four forms. Therefore, from training in the nature of wisdom and skillful means, the mind of the decisive aspect called "union" will arise. It has four forms, namely, heat, peak, forbearance, and supreme Dharma, which arise from the distinctions of samadhi. Among them, the first mind is the samadhi called "obtaining light." The second is the increase of light. The third is being one-sided with the meaning of suchness. The fourth is uninterrupted samadhi. This eliminates the nine kinds of conceptualization one by one, with the difference of apprehended and apprehender conceptualizations as the difference of objects. The afflictions of Bodhisattvas are conceptualizations, and conceptualizations also have many forms, which will be eliminated by the path described below. Among them, when the first decisive aspect arises, focusing on both defilement and purification, first, the nine conceptualizations of the apprehended are abandoned, namely, the conceptualization of ignorance arising from not grasping things such as a pot, as well as the conceptualization of grasping aggregates, the conceptualization of grasping name and form, the conceptualization of grasping two extremes, the conceptualization of not understanding defilement and purification, the conceptualization of not abiding in the noble path, the conceptualization of close grasping, the conceptualization of grasping self, etc., and the conceptualization of grasping the unborn, etc. Second, the nine conceptualizations of the apprehended that focus on purification are abandoned.
