The Treatise Explaining the Essence of Entering Suchness, Compendium of All the Sugata's Teachings, by Yeshe Drakpa. The Treatise Explaining the Essence of Entering Suchness, Compendium of All the Sugata's Teachings. Yeshe Drakpa. In Sanskrit: Tattvāvatāra-ākhyā-sakala-sugata-vāca-saṃkṣipta-vyākhyā-prakaraṇa. In Tibetan: de kho na nyid la 'jug pa zhes bya ba bde bar gshegs pa'i bka' ma lus pa mdor bsdus te bshad pa'i rab tu byed pa (The Treatise Explaining the Essence of Entering Suchness, Compendium of All the Sugata's Teachings). Free from the net of conceptualization, its nature is of one taste like space. Benefiting all beings, it possesses a complete and immaculate form. The purposes of oneself and others are completely pure, a vast and unwavering treasure of bliss. I prostrate to the supreme Victor and explain the ritual for accomplishing the Victor. Those skilled in benefiting others have definitively explained the means of accomplishment. Although great effort has been made, this very ritual of entering suchness is beneficial for the wise to realize that very nature. From the great scriptures, the Great Vehicle, and also from the Madhyamaka, I have gathered and explained the meditation according to the scriptures and instructions. Here, in order to make all beings fortunate enough to abandon the two obscurations of self, one should engage in manifest activity. In order to abandon the obscurations of affliction and knowledge, one should strive to prioritize conceptual thought. This is the instruction. As it is said: Since there is no one on earth without fortune, all will become Buddhas. Therefore, one should not be lazy in accomplishing perfect enlightenment. Thus it is said. Among them, the truth of secret mantra and pāramitā, those yogis who are manifestly diligent in that very nature, are not of three kinds due to the difference in their own inclinations. Thus, the beings to be trained who possess fortune, in brief, become three distinct types due to the difference in their own paths of increasing inclination: those who practice the means of the secret mantra path, those who are manifestly diligent in the pāramitās, and those who have increasing inclination on the path that is preceded by detachment. Among them, the first is to meditate with the complete power of meditation, with the accumulation of merit and wisdom without remainder.

In order to focus on one point, one perfects Samantabhadra's conduct without a fixed time. The second is that, without elaboration, one perfects the activities of generosity and so on, and in order to perfect the means of the nature of action with the nature of all the perfections, one perfects Buddhahood in three countless eons. Other than that, since one does not meditate on the nature of no-self, as an antidote to the perverted views of permanence and so on, by meditating on the truth of suffering and so on, one manifests detachment from desire, and at some later time, one perfects the accumulation of merit and wisdom, and perfects Buddhahood in four countless eons. Third, these are also divided into small, medium, and large, and thus each transforms into three types: mantra, perfection, and reality yogis also transform into nine types. Each of these also transforms into three types: superior, medium, and inferior faculties. Among these, the superior faculty is for those who practice the conduct of the door of mantra. The superior faculty is because one possesses great compassion, has little affliction, and is devoted to meditating on the union of Mahamudra and non-duality. The medium faculty, although particularly inclined towards non-existence, is controlled by afflictions, and is devoted to meditating on the union of the nature of emptiness with the wisdom mudra as non-dual. The inferior faculty, although also inclined towards emptiness, is controlled by strong afflictions such as desire in the mind stream, and therefore possesses the yoga of entering into equanimity with appropriate samaya and karma mudras, and meditates on everything, that is, meditating on wisdom, samaya, and karma mudras as non-dual, and these are also for entering into the union of Mahamudra and non-duality, so I say. All of these are irreversible in their respective ordinary states, this is the instruction. For the superior faculty who diligently practices the perfections, tranquility and insight
