When making it peaceful, it eliminates sleep and drowsiness, etc. Making it one, is to strive to enter samadhi without making obvious efforts towards the object. To equally abide in samadhi, is to correctly hold on by treating the attainment of the mind's equality with equanimity, that is the meaning. The explanation of these nine words, is copied from the works of Master Asanga. Furthermore, in this sequence, when will samadhi be perfected? Therefore it is said: When the mind is without effort, From its own nature it enters, At that time relying on the Buddha's equipoise, This is the nature of all samadhi. When the object enters without obvious effort, as long as the mind abides as desired, at that time one should know that tranquility is perfected. Having understood equipoise in this way, From then on wisdom should be generated, Differentiating form and formless, That meaning should be analyzed. Among them, first one should analyze form, Are these appearances of blue etc., non-different from consciousness? Or are they different? To this, if it is non-different from consciousness, then the three realms will become its nature, everything will become the substance of mind, because from whatever angle one looks, the appearance of blue etc. that is seen is consciousness, other than that, there is no other appearance. Then, it will become like this: Although the blue etc. that is present in front is the nature of consciousness, however, since it does not correspond to other determinations such as place and time, it is considered an external object, if you say so, that is not right, because the determination of excellent wisdom, is also considered to be accomplished by an internal cause. The internal knowing itself, since there is no determination of place and time, is the reason of intellect, so it is unreasonable to consider it an external object. If you say: Why is the external object not real? If you say so, then you should examine whether it contradicts the function, and you should also examine whether it is an external object, if not because everything is invisible, if you see a little bit you can examine, then how can you examine what you have not seen? Like a horse's horn.

Etc., also become the cause of knowing, which would become too extreme. If it is said that because horse horns etc. do not exist, there is no attachment, then how does the external world exist? If it is said that other certainties cannot be determined, then it is the same as horse horns etc., and they are mutually dependent. If it is said that it appears from the unreasonable, then when it becomes other, wouldn't all beings become blind? Because it is the nature of non-appearance. Beings will become blind. If it is said that the manifest is not transformed into another of the nature of mind, then it is not, because the nature of mind is not expressible by words. Where is this? Neither directly perceived nor inferred, different from blue etc., other essences of mind, this is not visible to direct perception, nor can it be inferred, because it is the object of direct perception. Or, are forms etc. closely observed in the manner of happiness etc.? This is not, because there is no difference from what is to be taken, so it is not in the manner of happiness etc., because confusion etc. are the manner of internal touch, which is to be taken, therefore, its difference cannot establish the difference of what is to be taken. However, even if there is no direct observation, it is closely observed by the power of meaning, if the meaning is not understood, then no object of mind will arise, and the inference of knowledge will become close observation, is that what is said? This is not, because the unreasonable will be exhausted in the state of mind. Because it is not the state of mind, it is matter, therefore it has separate appearances. Because it is unreasonable, it is completely imputed on the part of the grasper, which is unreasonable in the state of existence. If it is said that it becomes unreasonable only based on matter, this is not, because the fault of mutual dependence, even Brahma cannot prevent. The unreasonable is completely observed on the part of the grasper, matter and non-matter become other, which is unreasonable. Therefore, only the single aspect of blue etc. is seen, and matter or the state of mind different from it
