Having placed them on a very soft cushion, with a mind of equanimity, diligently contemplate them as the form of the Bhagavan, and after offering them correctly, one must carefully examine the letters given in response to the questions asked in order. For example: ba ka tsa ta e ha sha ya ya. Wherever the question is asked, these are the letters. Having divided the land into nine parts, there one should recognize the 'Sel' (obstacles, impurities) in the east and so on. When asked, if the letter 'ba' appears, at two and a half 'cubits' (an ancient unit of length) in the direction of power, there is a 'Sel' of a person, therefore the people living there will certainly die. When asked, if the letter 'ka' appears, at waist height in the direction of fire, there is a 'Sel' of a donkey, therefore the people living there will be subjected to the king's punishment, fear of thieves, and will become unequal. When asked, if the letter 'tsa' appears, at waist height in the southern direction, there is a 'Sel' of a person, therefore the householder of the people living there will certainly die. When asked, if the letter 'ta' appears, at one and a half 'cubits' in the direction of Rakshasa, there are bones, therefore the children in the houses living there will certainly be exhausted. When asked, if the letter 'i' appears, at one and seven-tenths 'cubits' in the direction of the water deity, there is an unclean 'Sel', therefore they will be expelled by the owner, and that house will always be empty. When asked, if the letter 'ha' appears, at four 'cubits' in the direction of the wind, one can know through wisdom that there is a 'Sel' of a male, which will frequently see bad dreams and will cause his friends to decline. When asked, if the letter 'sha' appears, at waist height in the direction of the body, there is a 'Sel' of a Brahmin, therefore the people living in that house, even if they are like the god of wealth, will certainly quickly become poor. When asked, if the letter 'ya' appears, at one and a half 'cubits' in the corner of fire, there is a 'Sel' of a cow, therefore there is no doubt that the cattle and property of the people living there will decline. When asked, if the letter 'ya' appears, in the center there are the hair, skull, ashes, and iron 'Sel' of a person, therefore one should know that the respective castes of the people living in that house will be exhausted. Having thus known that the 'Sel' has faults, one should take it out with great effort, and then again fix the clean, pleasant land there with a stake. Do not indicate with hammered silver, copper, black lead, white lead, and iron, as well as stones, wood, and bones, the caste.
