For whose sake the mandala is divined, that person will die. In water, it is the teacher. In yakshas, it is the one who enters there. In fire, it is rain. In the absence of truth, it is famine. In wind, it is wind and rain. Near a stupa, one will die. Near water where nagas reside, floods will occur. Knowing that doing it in the shade of a tree will lead to death, abandon everything and, in the territory of powerful individuals in villages, towns, settlements, gardens, temples, and houses, or wherever it is pleasing to the mind and the mandala, which thoroughly knows the east and north, examine the foundation. There, make a mandala with incense and so forth, offer to the deities of the mandala, offer the torma and raise it to the sky, and offer torma and food and so forth to the field protectors and others who dwell there. "Whatever gods and nagas dwell here, yakshas, rakshasas, or other beings, I will cultivate this land; for the sake of the mandala, please grant it." Pray like this three times, and if they grant it through dreams or the like, or if there is no obstruction, know that, and on the morning of the next day, pray in mind to glorious Vajradhara and others who reside in the center of the sky, and ask for permission. At noon, meditate on the protective wheel and the subjugation of obstacles with a phurba, or dispel obstacles with a fierce fire offering. For the purpose of protecting the disciple in the direction of the fire offering, in the afternoon, perform a peaceful fire offering in the hearth located at the boundary of fire, and recite the mantra that includes everything, such as "Om Ah Vighnanta Krit Hum (藏文：ཨོཾ་ཨཱཿ་བིགྷྣཱནྟ་ཀྲྀ་ཏ་ཧཱུཾ།，梵文天城体：ओम् आः विघ्नान्त कृत हुम्，梵文罗马拟音：oṃ āḥ vighnānta kṛta hūṃ，汉语字面意思：嗡 啊 障碍 终结 制造 吽)", and cleanse with mustard seeds, water, and ashes. Dig with a distinction of knee, waist, or navel. This is the ritual of digging the earth. Then, if it contains stones, there will be great wind; if it contains bones, there will be stinging pain; if it contains shards, there will be muteness; if it contains chaff and coal, there will be pestilence; if it contains hair, roots, trees, etc., there will be minor close harm. Know these things. Remove ashes, coal, hair, chaff, stones, dust, shards, bricks, and various trees, etc. Fill the pit with that earth mixed with fragrant water. If it is not filled, others should also do it. Then, sprinkle and beat with fragrant water that has been recited with the letter ཧཱུྃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हूँ, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Hum) and the mantra of all actions. Make it about half a cubit high, level, slightly raised like the back of a turtle, and make the boundary between east and north slightly lower. Furthermore, if all the faults of clearing the land cannot be avoided, touch it with your hand and recite the mantra. That will become the best purification. Mansions, houses on rocks, cattle sheds, temples, etc., by the water or in places that have been done before, it is correct even if you do not dig.
