Adorned with the eight great Naga kings, the two vajra fists of the two mudras with vajra and bell are placed back to back. The two little fingers are intertwined, and the two index fingers are extended. With the victorious mudra that overcomes the three realms, with the wisdom of self-illumination and equipoise, the right hands hold iron hooks and ropes, and the left hands hold skull bowls and khatvangas. Proclaiming the powerful letter HUM (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 吽) and looking in all directions, the rays of light emanating from the HUM (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 吽) in one's heart summon all the obstructing forces of the ten directions. Entrust them to the ten wrathful deities emanating from the HUM (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 吽). These wrathful deities should also prepare ten phurbas (ritual daggers) of eighteen, twelve, or eight finger lengths, with thicknesses of six, four, and six and one-sixth and one-half and one-third fingers respectively, made of sandalwood, bone, or iron. Place these ten phurbas in a new container, anoint them with mustard oil and red sandalwood, wrap them with five-colored threads, and offer them. Each phurba should be tied with a garland of red flowers, shaped like a cone tapering from the center downwards. Visualize oneself as a luminous form burning like the fire at the end of an eon, holding the vajra fist in the left hand. In the right hand, hold a hammer adorned with a garland of red flowers, symbolizing complete freedom. Cast those obstructing forces into the ten pits arising from the long-sounding HUM (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: 吽). Recite "Om Vajra Kili Kilaya Sarva Vighnana Vighnana Hum (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་ཀཱི་ལི་ཀཱི་ལ་ཡ་སརྦ་བི་གྷྣཱ་ན་བིགྷྣཱ་ན་ཧཱུཾ།)" or "Om Gha Gha Ghataya Ghataya Sarva Dustam Phat Phat Kilaya Sarva Papam Phat Phat Hum Hum Vajra Kila Vajra Dhara Ajnapayati Sarva Vighnana Kaya Vak Cittam Kilaya Hum Hum Phat Phat (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་གྷ་གྷ་གྷཱ་ཏ་ཡ་གྷཱ་ཏ་ཡ་སརྦ་དུ་ཥྚཱཾ་ཕཊ་ཕཊ་ཀཱི་ལ་ཡ་སརྦ་པཱ་པཾ་ཕཊ་ཕཊ་ཧཱུཾ་ཧཱུཾ་བཛྲ་ཀཱི་ལ་བཛྲ་དྷཱ་ར་ཨཱ་ཛྙཱ་པ་ཡ་ཏི་སརྦ་བི་གྷྣཱ་ན་ཀཱ་ཡ་ཝཱ་ཀྩི་ཏྟཾ་ཀཱི་ལ་ཡ་ཧཱུཾ་ཧཱུཾ་ཕཊ་ཕཊ།)" as a preliminary, and strike the head with the phurba. Recite "Om Vajra Mungara Akotaya Hum (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བཛྲ་མུངྒ་ར་ཨཱ་ཀོ་ཊ་ཡ་ཧཱུཾ།)" and visualize striking. Starting from the empowered one, the master should first perform the placement and striking of the phurbas in the eight directions of the circle of light outside the vajra chain surrounding the mandala in a clockwise direction. If unable to do so, the gate masters should follow. The crest phurba should be placed eastward from the eastern phurba. The harmful beauty phurba should be placed westward from the western phurba.
