Furthermore, that which is to be contemplated is the contemplation of an object that can be contemplated. That which is not to be contemplated is the contemplation of the Buddha's teachings and so forth, which is not to be contemplated. Because there is no form and so forth since it has not arisen from the very beginning, those thoughts should not be contemplated. Just as all phenomena have not arisen from the very beginning, as has already been shown. Then what should one contemplate? It is said, contemplate the realm of phenomena. However, one should not contemplate it wrongly. How should one contemplate the realm of phenomena? Do not think of anything contradictory. Why is that? Because in whatever way one contemplates the realm of phenomena, those ways do not exist. Emptiness and the absence of inherent existence, and so forth, are, in ultimate truth, merely non-existent, since refutation does not apply where there is nothing to be refuted. Therefore, one should not contemplate the realm of phenomena, nor should one contemplate it wrongly, which is the summary. To think contradictorily is to think of the aspects of non-arising and so forth, the aspects of things and so forth, the very distinctness of things, and the characteristics of non-oneness, and so forth. This is like what was said, such as "To view emptiness," and so forth. If a yogi contemplates in this way for seven days, according to the manner that has been shown, then he will obtain the dharani. The Blessed One, thinking, "What is the use of explaining it again and again?" spoke of "For example," and so forth. This benefit applies to all three types of dharani. Happiness is the happiness of definite goodness and manifest highness. Doubt is synonymous with hesitation, or uncertainty. Having thus shown many kinds of benefits, he showed the main, immediate result, and thus caused the world to enter into this dharani and concluded, "From this, perfect enlightenment is near. Therefore, strive to apply yourself to this." It should be applied through hearing and so forth, or through the body and so forth, or through the four lines shown below. This shows the perfection of one's own benefit, the perfection of wisdom, and the perfection of abandonment, both of which are shown. Enlightenment is the characteristic of wisdom and abandonment.

Therefore. The perfection of wisdom is fourfold: omniscient, omniscient itself, knowing without effort, and knowing without being taught. Abandonment is also fourfold: abandoning afflictions, abandoning the obscurations of knowledge, completely abandoning, abandoning together with habitual tendencies, and abandoning all obscurations of samadhi and absorption. These are also indicated by mentioning perfect enlightenment. You! Having attained the place of peace, you will accomplish perfect enlightenment. Thinking of the world in this way, one should know that this indicates the perfection of benefiting others. The place of peace is because afflictions and obscurations of knowledge are pacified, or because the three fires are pacified, it is non-abiding nirvana. Perfect enlightenment is threefold, and this indicates the perfection of benefiting others by establishing them in the three enlightenments. It should be known that definite liberation from the three lower realms, establishment in the ocean-born, and complete liberation from the suffering of samsara are indirectly indicated. Why else? Is perfect enlightenment near from this? Thus, you! Having attained the place of peace, you will accomplish perfect enlightenment. This is near, and this complete verse indicates the perfection of self-benefit. Now, starting from "Thereafter, the Blessed One," etc., the means of obtaining this dharani is indicated: How is the wise one, where, how does he dwell, what does he meditate on, and by doing what will he obtain it? This is indicated by the four verses. How can a yogi obtain this dharani? This is indicated by the first four verses. Where to dwell, and how to dwell, these two are indicated by the second. What to meditate on, and what to do, these two are indicated by the third. How can a yogi obtain this dharani? It is said: The disciplined one, his unfavorable aspects, the two liberations, his increasing possessions, faults and all virtues, by revealing them, one can make him enter. What is called not being particularly attached to desires indicates having discipline, and discipline is the basis of all virtues. Regarding the five desires,

If there is no particular attachment to these qualities, one will not commit actions such as killing. Therefore, by abandoning these, one naturally obtains the precepts with these characteristics, so it is not explained separately. Liberation from jealousy and miserliness, which are contrary to the precepts, means having no jealousy towards all sentient beings and completely giving away all possessions without regret, which is what this indicates. Jealousy and miserliness are contrary to the precepts; like this, if one is particularly attached to desires, one will become jealous and miserly. Mentioning "all sentient beings" is to include enemies, friends, and neutral individuals. Mentioning "all possessions" is to include external and internal ones. Mentioning "without regret" is to show that there is no clinging in the mind, and these three words show that the precepts are very pure. Having the conduct of giving without regret means giving without hesitation. "Desiring the Dharma day and night and delighting in the joy of the Dharma" indicates that what increases the precepts is being endowed with speech. Because of craving the Dharma, one will desire the Dharma. Because of effort, one will like the Dharma. Or, in order to enter the Dharma, one desires the Dharma. Because of habit, one likes the Dharma. Or, because of diligence in the first and last parts of the night, one will desire the Dharma. Because of meditating on emptiness and other Dharmas, one likes the Dharma. Or, because it is spoken to definitely grasp the two, this actually shows the precepts of abstaining from the seven sexual acts because there are no bad thoughts. By explaining the reasons for faults and benefits, they are made to enter into the precepts and so on, which is the remaining meaning of the word "taming." These are also indicated by the verses. They are made to enter into the precepts in five ways. In order to explain the faults of desires, it is said that "stench" refers to having the stench of immoral precepts. Or, because the root of desire is the impure stench of the body. "Bad" means becoming the worst of all and being relied upon by bad beings.
