It is said, "Listen with your mind." Or, like a fair person, strive to seek the meaning, and listen as a thoughtful person. Connect the words such as "Excellent" in order. If you do so, your listening will have results, otherwise it will not. Or, because it is endowed with measure from the beginning, it is said, "Listen well." Because it is good in the end as well, it is said, "Listen carefully." Because it is good in the end as well, it is said, "Pay attention properly." Or, because it is the antidote to small, medium, and large faults, connect the words such as "Excellent" in order. Or, in order to make the words, meaning, and both graspable, connect the words such as "Excellent" in order. Or, in order not to contradict direct perception, inference, and the two measures, connect the words such as "Excellent" in order. Or, because it is the cause of the three kinds of wisdom arising from hearing, connect the words such as "Excellent" in order. Or, because it is the cause of the benefit of self, others, and both, connect the words such as "Excellent" in order. Or, because it is the cause of the three paths such as seeing, connect the words such as "Excellent" in order. Since the request for meaning has been accepted, therefore he himself turns to the request. The capable one understands the meaning of sentient beings, therefore here it speaks of protection and so on. Understanding in that way and so on, shows the manifestation of turning towards. Now it shows protection, and that also has two aspects, namely the yoga of meditation and the letters of secret mantra. Among them, the yoga of meditation is: Truly speaking, all those dharmas do not accept the nature of being substantial. Because they arise depending on conditions, like illusion, dream, mirage. Because there is nothing to be negated, truly speaking, selflessness is manifest. Truly knowing, all dharmas, do not at all grasp as substantial. All dharmas are

Because it arises depending on conditions, like illusions and so on, in reality, it is not the nature of things. Similarly, the nature of arising and so on also does not truly exist, it should be said. If so, because all dharmas do not truly exist as things, it is not related to true refutation, like the blueness of a barren woman's son, etc., because there is nothing to be refuted, refutation does not apply either. If disagreement is permanent, then refutation also becomes the same as that, in that case, all dharmas are not the nature of non-things in the ultimate sense. Similarly, the nature of unborn and so on is also not, it should be connected in this way. Or, because it does not possess valid cognition, characteristics such as existence and non-existence, therefore it does not accept all dharmas, therefore the wise do not cling, do not manifest clinging, this is the concluding remark. The nature of not possessing valid cognition has already been explained. Therefore, it is not empty, not non-empty, not existent nor non-existent, not unborn, not born, and so on, said the Bhagavan. By this path of meditation, if one contemplates the words of the secret mantra, one will completely obtain the fruit, but if it is just desire, it is not so. The yogi, abiding in this yoga of meditation, reciting the letters of the secret mantra, will completely obtain the fruit desired in the mind, but if the mind looks outward and recites, then the nature of the secret mantras has extremely inconceivable characteristics, although it seems that one can obtain the fruit, it is not complete. For each word's yoga, while manifestly directing towards it, the secret mantra should be recited appropriately, therefore words are mentioned here. Avoiding faults such as being too fast, too slow, unclear, etc., is appropriateness, that is, focusing the mind on the letters of the secret mantra. In the yoga of each word, while manifestly directing towards it, the secret mantra should be recited appropriately, therefore words are mentioned. If it is not so, then one should say, "Hold the secret mantra of the dharani." This is the reason for saying so. The yoga of contemplating each letter, no one can do, so it must be from each word.
