These two should be understood as the daytime. Each period has two and two halves hours, and one hundred fifty and one hundred fifty moments. From the first day of the small winter month to the time of empty sky, each day has twelve and twelve periods. From sunrise, the first of the twelve parts is the elephant time, the second part is the banner time, the third part is the lion time, the fourth part is the dog time, the fifth part is the ox time, the sixth part is the turtle time, the seventh part is the donkey time, the eighth part is the crocodile time, the ninth part is the conch time, the tenth part is the peacock time, the eleventh part is the bow time, and the twelfth part is the arrow time. Each day has twelve and twelve periods, and each period has two and two halves hours, and one hundred fifty and one hundred fifty moments. From the first day of the small winter month to the time of empty sky, after sunset there are twelve periods. From the elephant to the arrow, there are thirty-four hours, and each period also has two and two halves hours, and three hundred and three hundred moments. Similarly, one should understand the years, months, and all periods. The banner is famous in the world. The lion is fearless to all beasts. The dog is close. The ox is foolish. The turtle is a great vehicle. The donkey is considered evil in the world. The crocodile is near accomplishment. The conch is stable, that is, unchanging. The peacock is bad at work. The bow is good for confusion. The arrow is piercing. The elephant loves desire. Similarly, the twelve zodiac signs should be counted. Thus spoke the Tathagata Buddha. Which of your planets move among the stars? In the northeast direction are Krittika and Rohini. Due east are Chitra, Hasta, Vishakha, Anuradha, Jyeshtha, and Mula. In the southeast direction are Purvashadha and Uttarashadha. In the south are Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati. In the southwest direction are Ashvini and Bharani. In the west are Krittika, Rohini, Mrigashira, Ardra, and Punarvasu. In the northwest direction are Pushya and Ashlesha.
