Where one abides is due to the power of previous aspirations. Abiding by the power of individual discernment is to diligently practice the perfections with the power of wisdom. Abiding in attention has four aspects: To cultivate attention with faith is to cultivate faith in the sutras that possess all the perfections. To cultivate attention by experiencing the taste is to experience the taste of those who have attained the perfections by seeing their qualities. To cultivate attention by rejoicing is to rejoice in the generosity and so forth of all sentient beings in all realms of the world. To cultivate attention with delight is to delight in the future perfections of oneself and all sentient beings. Abiding in thought, there are six types of perfection cultivation: the thought of insatiability, the thought of vastness, the thought of joy, the thought of benefiting, the thought of non-attachment, and the thought of virtue. Among these, the bodhisattva's thought of insatiability in generosity is that a bodhisattva fills worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges with the seven precious substances and gives his body to one Ganges River. Likewise, in each moment, he gives for eons as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, and just as with one sentient being, he fully matures as many sentient beings as there are realms of sentient beings into unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. In this way, his insatiability with generosity is the very nature of a bodhisattva. This kind of thought is the bodhisattva's thought of insatiability in generosity. Until sitting at the heart of enlightenment, the bodhisattvas do not neglect or interrupt such a continuous stream of generosity, not even for a moment. This kind of thought is the bodhisattva's vast thought in generosity. Thus, the bodhisattva who takes hold of those sentient beings with generosity is extremely joyful, while those sentient beings who are taken hold of by that generosity are...

It is not like that. This kind of thought is the Bodhisattva's joyful thought towards generosity. Bodhisattvas see those sentient beings who are benefited by generosity as beneficial to themselves, not for their own sake, but so that they can firmly attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. This kind of thought is the Bodhisattva's mind of benefiting sentient beings through generosity. Although the merit arising from the Bodhisattva's generosity to sentient beings is manifested, they do not desire reward or retribution. This kind of thought is the Bodhisattva's unattached mind when practicing the perfection of generosity. The Bodhisattva's renunciation of the fruition of the aggregate of generosity is also manifested as rejoicing for the sake of sentient beings, not for oneself, but shared with all sentient beings, and completely dedicated to unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. This kind of thought is the practice of the perfection of generosity and the Bodhisattva's virtuous mind. Regarding the practice of the perfection of discipline up to the practice of the perfection of wisdom, the Bodhisattva's thought of non-contentment is that the Bodhisattva's body becomes as many as the sands of the Ganges River, and its lifespan also becomes as many kalpas as the sands of the Ganges River, constantly feeling deficient in all necessities, and even when the three thousand great thousand worlds are filled with flames, they still practice the four postures. Even if they practice the perfection of discipline for a moment, up to practicing the perfection of wisdom for a moment, in this way, how many aggregates of discipline and aggregates of wisdom have been practiced, by means of these aggregates of discipline up to the aggregates of wisdom, one can manifest and perfectly attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, but the Bodhisattva is still not satisfied with this. The Bodhisattva practices the perfection of discipline until sitting under the Bodhi tree.

From the practice of moral discipline paramita to the practice of prajna paramita, the bodhisattva's mind is vast. From practicing moral discipline paramita to practicing prajna paramita, the bodhisattva who thus takes hold of sentient beings is very joyful, but those sentient beings who are taken hold of are not so. This kind of thought, which is the practice of moral discipline paramita to the practice of prajna paramita, is the joyful mind of the bodhisattva. From practicing moral discipline paramita to practicing prajna paramita, after practicing, the bodhisattva sees those sentient beings who are benefited as being very beneficial to himself, but not himself, because they show the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. This kind of thought is the mind of the bodhisattva benefiting from the practice of moral discipline paramita to the practice of prajna paramita. Therefore, the bodhisattva thus generates much merit from the arising of moral discipline paramita to the arising of prajna paramita, but he does not desire to repay the benefit or ripen it. This kind of thought is the practice from the practice of moral discipline paramita to wisdom, which is the mind without attachment. Therefore, the result of the ripening of the accumulation of merit from the bodhisattva's practice of moral discipline paramita to wisdom is also clearly joyful for sentient beings, but not for himself. After sharing it with all sentient beings, he completely dedicates it to the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. This kind of thought is the practice from the practice of moral discipline paramita to prajna paramita, which is the bodhisattva's virtuous mind. What is the practice of paramita while abiding in skillful means? There are three types: for the sake of individual observation, the wheel of non-discriminating wisdom.
