Furthermore, at the base of many stupas, write the names of all those who obstruct the deceased, place them in an earthenware jar, and set it aside. The water for the stupa and tsha-tsha should be from the corpse, bones, or water used to wash the clothes of the deceased. On the top of the jar, place the relics of the deceased. Alternatively, during the making of tsha-tsha, at the place where the Prajnaparamita Sutra is recited, wash the bones with water of dharani mantras, then wrap the written essence and place it inside the tsha-tsha. Then, make one hundred and eight tsha-tshas, each with a mandala drawn on it, and offer the filled jar while reciting dharani mantras. At that time, contemplate that all the deities of the mandala are bestowing empowerment upon the one being accomplished. After the dharani ritual is completed, wash the relics of the one being accomplished. Bones, clothes, or images will become purified by a thousand washings. A thousand tsha-tshas endowed with this ritual will make the one being accomplished into the king of the gods. A hundred thousand will make him the lord of Tushita. A million will make him the lord of Nirmanarati. Ten million will make him the lord of Paranirmitavasavarti. After that, he will master a hundred thousand doors of dharani. He will obtain a hundred thousand doors of samadhi. He will purify limitless hundred thousand Buddha-fields. The remaining rituals should be performed as before. This is the sequence for benefiting the deceased. For wild animals and the like, this is also the cause for benefiting them. By "entering into all," etc., the number of recitations is stated. Reciting a thousand times is the number of recitations for benefiting the deceased. A hundred thousand is the number of those who perform the death-averting ritual from the eighth to the fifteenth, with ten monks and others. A million is the number of approach recitations. "Writing a million and placing it inside the stupa" means that only the essence is written as before with saffron, bezoar, sandalwood, etc., and then placed inside the tsha-tsha. From a complete million to placing it inside a large stupa, erecting a wooden pole and adorning it for offering, this is the relic of a great treasure of a million. Regarding the sequence of the stupa: Any mountain, plain, or region is suitable. Places like cemeteries should be avoided. Delightful
