Thus. Manifesting conviction and, faith and, desire, are all taught as the nature of faith. Acting in the freedom of diligence, like the flames of a summer forest fire spreading, like burning all the thickets without restraint, on the fire of recitation, fuel the wind of discipline, burn sins with the flames of great diligence. Thus it is said, this is how it turns into faith, it is connected with liberation from the prison of samsara, therefore, diligent effort is thus declared. Acting in the freedom of mindfulness, as it is said in the Noble Jewel-Crowned Sutra, one who is skilled in dedication is the freedom of mindfulness, in accordance with which it is said, offering flowers, incense, lamps, etc., with discipline, diligence, asceticism, etc., all virtues are dedicated to the supreme, unsurpassable, perfect enlightenment of the Buddha's Bodhi. Just as rivers flow into the ocean, the salty taste becomes one taste, so too, the merit dedicated to unsurpassable Bodhi becomes the taste of the Victorious One. Just as a person plants rice for the sake of fruit, not for the sake of straw, but after obtaining rice, without arranging it, a pile of straw naturally arises. Likewise, for the sake of desiring the fruit of Bodhi, accumulating merit, not for the sake of enjoyment, but like a pile of straw, the enjoyment of man is accomplished without accumulation. May the long-lived one obtain this well, or obtain a state of practicing according to the Dharma, or be reborn without, may all the wishes of the practitioner be constantly fulfilled. Thus it is said, this is accomplished by desiring its fruit, therefore it is declared that it becomes the cause of pure discipline. Furthermore, standing, sitting, sleeping, lying down, walking, talking, eating, reading, reciting, at the time of doing, remember the respective qualities, remember with reason. Thus it is said, remembering the Sugata's Dharma and Sangha, joining palms to Shariputra and me and sleeping, thus all the defiled sins can be exhausted. Thus it is said, gods and so on, and obstacles and heretics, those who abide in vows, they have no opportunity. Just like all crops
