In the Great Tantra, it is said: The gods, just as they rejoice in fighting, so that they may harm sentient beings, likewise, obstacles will arise. In the Great Tantra of Vairochana's Perfect Enlightenment, it is taught differently: Because of clinging to miserliness in the past, obstacles arise from one's own mind. The antidote is also spoken of in that same text: In order to destroy its cause, whatever thoughts and mental events there are, all discriminations should be abandoned, and all elaborations arising from discrimination should cease, this is called Bodhicitta. This should also be combined with that. "Unable to avert" means that it is impossible to stop the obstacles from causing harm. "The terrible things done by obstacles," as it says in the Great Tantra of Supreme Wisdom: Those misleaders, merely by touching merit, can burn to ashes the accumulation of merit from accumulating the six perfections for a thousand years of the gods, and they can also exhaust the merit of practicing vidya-mantras, so vidya-mantras will not be accomplished. What was said before, such as "they can avert those," refers to the recitations and entering the mandala that were mentioned earlier. The rest is easy to understand. Thus, when going back and forth, the mind reciting the vidya becomes distracted. This should be understood as the entry of obstacles, as that tantra says: Even when staying in a determined place, and even when going to another place, for each practitioner, the misleaders are also stationed to seek opportunities. Like a reflection appearing in water, it means that when a reflection appears in water, there is no obstruction or trace of having passed, and it sinks into the depths. Likewise, it will enter the body of a person, meaning that it enters without hindrance or harm. "When vomiting, to others," etc., means that in each of the six types of obstacles, the nature of those who create obstacles is also specifically shown, and the reason for this will be explained below. Like unignited fire arising naturally, this is an example of arising involuntarily. The great fire of desire.

The term "Na" means to burn all roots of virtue. "Shaking and moving" refers to the obstacles to actions. Like this and so on, especially, the timing when obstructors seize practitioners, and the signs of being seized, have been shown. The meaning of the words is easy to understand, so I won't explain it further. "Disturbed by obstacles" means being seized by them and changing one's human nature. "Seeing the wrong path as the path in the wrong direction" means entering into evil conduct. The rest is easy to understand. To destroy obstacles and wrong guidance, this is a synonym for the purpose of destroying them. "Nectar fire fierce action union," and "The mantra practitioner enters the path of secret mantras," also come from that tantra. Therefore, the holder of knowledge mantras should face the direction where the sun rises, always pour a handful of water, and recite the secret mantra of the wrathful deity seven times. As it is said, "I, named so-and-so, practice such-and-such knowledge mantra, please be pleased." Obstacles and wrong guidance cannot stand against it. This refers to the benefit of entering the path of nectar fire. Again, from that same tantra, by this, the hosts of wrong guidance will be happy and satisfied, and will grant accomplishments, and the mind will also become joyful. Regarding the many kinds of obstacles, and their identification and different remedies, these are also explained in detail and separately in that tantra. Because of the length here, I have not elaborated, and it should be understood from the tantra itself. "Cattle pen" and so on, refer to the place of empowerment. "One tree," from the Great Accomplishment Root Tantra: "Under a completely round tree." The rest is easy to understand. "Mandala square flat four cubits in size," refers to the wall surrounding the outer perimeter of the mandala. "Various colors of paint" refers to white, red, yellow, green, and black. Among them, the center is half a cubit of land, two cubits wide. "The abodes of the gods of the four directions are completely grasped," means that one-third of the total one cubit wide outer layer is left as a surrounding space, and two-thirds are for the gods to reside.
