What should this person do and be sent for? Since this is the tantra of action, even if a yogi practices, he should not completely abandon cleanliness. Thus it was said. One should diligently practice cleanliness in a secluded place. To whom is it said to practice emptiness? The answer to this is: If one understands the meaning in this way, although it is said to practice emptiness, what is the intention of practicing cleanliness in a secluded place? Those who speak of extreme emptiness, fearing the foul smell of unclean things touching their bodies and clothes after defecating and urinating, do not even allow people to enter the room. They also cannot beg for food, and their bodies and minds are troubled by the suffering of hunger, and eventually they die untimely, and everything becomes empty. The key to abandoning unwanted actions is like scales, wells, and ridges, etc. Thus it was said. Among them, it is related to not causing any harm to sentient beings with scales, etc. Among them, sentient beings are living beings. Harming them is harming, and not doing any harm is not doing. With what should one not do harm? It is said that it is with body, speech, and mind. Among them, the characteristics of abandoning the body's killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, and not practicing celibacy are the complete abandonment of harm to sentient beings. Similarly, the characteristics of abandoning the deeds of speech, such as lying and frivolous speech, etc., are complete abandonment. The deeds of the mind are the nature of abandoning greed, etc. Then, if the paths of action of body, speech, and mind are followed, it may cause harm to sentient beings. The characteristics of greed, harmful thoughts, and wrong views are following the path of action of the mind. Even if it has become an unpleasant action, etc., but one does not do any harm in the mind, thus preventing it, how can it be understood as causing harm to sentient beings? There is no fault in this, why? Because I am also one of the sentient beings, therefore, for me, any unpleasant result of actions, such as in the next life, will also become near, therefore it is thought of as preventing it. Or, the actions of body and speech...

There is no fault in stopping the cause of arising, which is the mind. "Abandoning" means that after taking vows, one completely abandons harming sentient beings, meaning "not doing." This shows that having taken vows beforehand, whatever engages in the path of action, due to the mind being extremely firm, will also spontaneously become manifest. Now, in order to determine the characteristics of the deity yoga that is the cause of meditation, recitation, and practice, etc., which is the asceticism that has been spoken of, in order to ascertain the place and time for manifesting that asceticism, it is said: Meditation and recitation, as well as the practice of mantras, the work of homa and empowerment, also for the activities of the field, whatever asceticism has been spoken of. It is said, and in that, for the sake of meditating on the mantras, whatever asceticism has been spoken of. Similarly, it is also connected with recitation and so on. Among them, the meditation on mantras is, the fire place bestows accomplishment, etc., which was spoken of earlier. For the sake of that meditation, for each letter of the mantra, the aspect of contemplation, with pure words, being possessed by the nature of sound, this is explained as the asceticism of vidyā-mantra, which is the characteristic of the deity yoga of the nature of sound. Similarly, the asceticism spoken of for the sake of reciting the mantras, "The unchanging mantra abides in the base," this shows that the asceticism is practiced through thinking of oneself as having become the form of one's own deity. Similarly, the asceticism of practice and so on should also be recognized as the nature of one's own deity, and therefore it should be connected in this way. Whatever asceticism has been spoken of for the sake of the homa of the mantras, means whatever deity yoga has been spoken of for the sake of offering homa to the mantras. The asceticism of empowering the mantras is the empowerment by the lower part and so on, for the sake of dissolving the image of the mantra into the body of the deity. Or, for the practitioner to practice the mantra, whatever is to be empowered is the empowerment of the mantra, and it is connected with whatever has been spoken of in that empowerment of the mantra. Also for the activities of the field, ascet
