It should be known that what you teach also has this meaning. In order to discuss how they teach these meanings, through the explanatory verses, it will be shown immediately below. Furthermore, just as the recitation ritual mentioned earlier, in the meditation ritual of secret mantras, one should also extremely cultivate the suchness of self, and believe that the sound, which is the appearance of the deity's sound, is non-dual, and desire to practice it. Therefore, first, one should use the previously mentioned characteristic verses to explain the suchness of self: 'Things arising from non-discrimination, the wise should bind to me, the mantra practitioner dwells beyond the limbs, without attachment, meditate.' Thus it is said. Among them, the mantra practitioner should ascertain the self. If someone asks, what is it that the said 'thinking' binds? (Answer:) It is said, 'Bind the things arising from non-discrimination.' Among them, because the consciousness of the senses such as the eye does not discriminate, 'non-discrimination' refers to the mind. Similarly, whatever arises and is born from this is produced from non-discrimination, and is related to the characteristics of mind and mental factors, and is called 'bound.' Binding them means not giving rise to the nature of complete entanglement. As mentioned earlier, if someone asks, where is the characteristic of binding said to be bound? (Answer:) It is said 'in me,' which means 'in the mind.' Therefore, it will be said like this: As the characteristics mentioned, because the appearance is absent, and the suchness of the non-dual self appears, those completely entangled things will not arise, and the characteristic as a habit is bound. Because its basis is also the nature of the mind, which is the suchness of self, therefore it is said 'in me.' 'The wise' means that if one has wisdom, one can examine the suchness. The so-called 'dwelling beyond the limbs' refers to the limbs that completely cut off 'only this much,' and can be distinguished and counted, referring to the limbs such as the eye and ear. The mantra practitioner refutes by not paying attention, or by arguing the doctrine of no-self, thereby surpassing and overcoming those limbs, and completely abandoning them, which is beyond the limbs.

Not transcended, that is, the meaning of so-called transcending the limbs. To abide having transcended the limbs is to abide in the place where the limbs have passed away, meaning not arising from the clarity of non-appearing wisdom. Thus, because of abiding in the suchness of self, one should contemplate the nature of the deity of sound and the nature of the deity of the Dharmadhatu. For the sake of showing this, it is said, "One should meditate." How should one meditate? It is said, "Without attachment," that which is without attachment is that which is free from clinging and attachment. This also speaks of preventing attachment to the object of meditation, and preventing attachment should also be understood as preventing the very discrimination of the suchness of self through the light of wisdom. Why? If one is attached to what is to be meditated upon, one will not be able to distinguish the dharmas from above, so one will not be able to obtain the special qualities. To meditate on the characteristic of the suchness of the deity of conventional truth, if one desires to be attached to it, the wise should not look at the negation of "should be without attachment" in that way. Abiding in such a suchness of self, one should manifest the suchness of the deity. For the sake of manifesting the suchness of the deity of sound, the word "sound" is strung together in a garland. "The letters strung together do not change, Like the sound of a bell, without interruption, When the mind clings to it and contemplates." As it is said and so on, this also shows the nature of non-appearing wisdom arising from the suchness of self, and the yoga of the deity in the form of the sound of mantra. Here also, the suchness of the deity of the nature of sound, which is obtained from outside the nature of non-appearance, which is the non-conceptualization of the suchness of self, is conceptualized in the form of sound, born together and heard, like water and milk, the yoga of contemplating becoming one with sound, and the transformation that clearly appears through this, then, the mantra practitioner abides in the union of the deity of the nature of sound, this is what is to be shown. Here, the word "sound" is connected with "when the letters are strung together and contemplated," therefore, "the letters strung together" is the sound of the letters of mantra, in one breath, without inter-
