Because of holding subtle things, one should always practice this method. If one wants to silently recite a hundred times, one should also do it at that time with that kind of practice, as it is said. The so-called "coming" is to gather back, to restrain life and diligence, to make the mind and wind, and the functions of the senses converge inward, it is difficult to silently recite. Therefore, it is reasonable to focus on the mind. For those who have not yet mastered concentration, if they recite aloud, it may also cause the samadhi to degenerate. If wisdom combines the two, then mental recitation is the most excellent. "Those who desire accomplishment" refers to those who recite mantras in order to desire accomplishment, they must earnestly perform this recitation ritual, this is its intention. To act for the sake of future merit, etc., means that even if there is some reduction from the ritual as stated, and one recites as much as possible, there will be no fault, this is the concluding statement. Regarding the recitation that focuses on sound, mentioning mental and silent recitation should be regarded as the characteristic specifically indicated here. Therefore, it should also be applied to the previous recitations. The concise meaning here is also the same as before, performing the ritual of the four branches, and contemplating the basis of the Tathagata. Make the horse of the mind that follows the wind channels of the whole body appear before you, like a turtle retracting its body, like a tongue drinking water, with the practice of retracting the breath, concentrate the mind inward. With the image of your own deity, inseparable and extremely meditated upon, pervade yourself, and block the path of memory and the arising of breath. Focus on the sound to be recited, and hold the mind, recite the mantra between the exhalation of mthaam (མྠའཱམ།,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思) and the end of the mantra. And so on, let the mind that follows the wind channels emanate outward, and contemplate the three, such as the Tathagata, and then gather them back. In this way, with the recitation that focuses on the sound of the mantra, also in the manner of arising and gathering, recite until the time you want. Thus, for the ritual of mantra recitation, the three focuses initially mentioned are the Tathagata.

And the specific contemplation of the lunar mandala containing the secret mantra residing within it. The second ritual of secret mantra recitation involves two contemplations: the lunar mandala in one's own heart, and the string of secret mantra syllables residing within it. The third stage involves contemplating the sound of the secret mantra being recited, which is the distinction of the three recitations. The suchness of recitation, and the suchness of self, and the nature of the suchness of vidyā-mantra, the profound means of vidyā-mantra and mantra have been explained. Now, this path of accomplishment of vidyā-mantra and secret mantra is the only one, and not another. Because it has been shown to be the uncommon cause, therefore, in order to earnestly instruct in the means of vidyā-mantra and secret mantra, which are the characteristics mentioned above. The vidyā-mantra itself is complete, the self itself is the ritual, and if one knows the recitation itself is the ritual, then one will attain accomplishment. Among these, the so-called supreme suchness of recitation refers to the nature of contemplating the limbs of recitation, which is what was mentioned above as the suchness of recitation. Because it has become supreme from the non-recitation of the four limbs, it is supreme. Therefore, knowing this is related to attaining accomplishment. Then, it should be said that the suchness of recitation should be done with extreme diligence. Because if one does not do it diligently, merely knowing it, one does not see that there is fruit. For example, in the world, even if one knows the rituals of plowing and trade, if one does not do it diligently, one does not see that one possesses its fruit, which is unreasonable. There is no fault in this, because one establishes the cause on the fruit, intending to instruct, or intending to speak of the nature of diligence and so on. The so-called "the vidyā-mantra itself is complete," saying "complete" means indicating that one should completely know the suchness of the six types of vidyā-mantra. The so-called "the self itself is the ritual," saying the word ritual, it is instructed in this way: having spoken of the ritual of the self's suchness, one should analyze and observe, but one should not do so for the attainment through the self's suchness. Why is that? Because the self's suchness is the nature of non-dual wisdom.
