Impure refers to forms with characteristics, such as color and shape. For example, the forms of noble Mañjuśrī and Avalokiteśvara, etc., are considered impure because they focus on characteristics such as color and shape. However, they are not impure in terms of accomplishing their purpose. The statement "Through the two forms of the deity, two kinds of needs are accomplished" means that these two forms of the deity, the completely pure and the completely impure, can accomplish two kinds of needs. What are these two? "With the characterized, one accomplishes the characterized" means that through the characteristic of having color and shape, and the samādhi that transforms into the form of a deity, one can accomplish substances with characteristics, such as swords and vajras. "With the uncharacterized, one also generates siddhis with characteristics" means that through the nature of the deity of emptiness, the samādhi of the uncharacterized, one can obtain siddhis that do not depend on the characteristics of substances such as swords and vajras, such as the five supernormal cognitions, dhāraṇīs, and liberations. Here, "uncharacterized" refers to the absence of characteristics in the place of practice, such as swords, and not to the absence of characteristics in the five supernormal cognitions, etc., which have objects of focus. As it is said, "With the characterized, one accomplishes the characterized, the Victorious Ones, the Supreme Ones, approve," from the samādhi of the completely pure and the completely impure, the characterized accomplishment and the uncharacterized accomplishment arise separately, but what is accomplished from the nature of the characterized deity is only the characterized accomplishment. This explains the certainty that the uncharacterized accomplishment will not arise. "The Victorious Ones, the Supreme Ones, approve" means that the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past also thought or approved in this way. "Abiding in the uncharacterized, one can also accomplish the characterized" means that from the samādhi of the uncharacterized deity, one can obtain not only the uncharacterized accomplishment that does not depend on substances, but also the characterized accomplishment with substances such as swords. Therefore, in all circumstances, charac
