From a young age, I was amazed and realized the merits of these mantras. I pray that you explain the placement of each and the rituals. "Bodhisattvas protect all, all Buddhas are treasures." This means that these essences are the treasures of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. "By this, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, protecting beings, Bodhisattvas, as well as Pratyekabuddhas and Shravakas, wise ones in this world, attain unsurpassed Buddha wisdom, attain incomparable wisdom, with various miraculous transformations, perform various deeds on the earth." This means that by the power of these essences, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas can also perform various miracles. Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas also, with Samadhi, contemplate dwelling in the empty sky, and abide in it with the four conducts, water emerging from the lower body, fire blazing from the upper body, contemplating the wind mandala, and even destroying mountains, performing various miracles. "Attain unsurpassed Buddha wisdom, attain incomparable wisdom." This means that after performing various miracles in this way, also by the power of these essences, one will gradually attain omniscience. "Therefore, these respective, extensive rituals and activities, as well as all the various placements, I pray that you explain in this teaching." This means that I pray that you explain in this teaching the rituals of transforming from these mantras into the mandalas of great protectors, as well as the respective placements and the performance of activities. "By this practice of secret mantras, in the unsurpassed Mahayana, beings will joyfully abide, in the visible Dharma." This means that explaining these is also for the sake of beings attaining the bliss of higher rebirth in the visible Dharma, therefore I pray that you explain these, this is explaining the necessity of explaining. Now I will explain the respective activities of the mantras mentioned above. These activities also, as said before, the mantra practitioner himself contemplates emptiness starting from the letter A (ཨ་, Devanagari: अ, Roman transliteration: a, meaning: none), and then contemplates himself abiding in the great authority of the Bhagavan Vairochana, and also inside the body...

Having contemplated the great mandala, and within it, contemplating the letters in sequence. Therefore, at that time, the ground is blessed as a great vajra, and it is said that from one's own body, the essence of bodhi is manifested. Thus it is said, etc. The phrase "blessed the ground as a great vajra" means blessed as the great empowerment mandala. The phrase "from one's own body, the essence of bodhi is manifested" means that, thus transformed in the great empowerment mandala, the letters such as A are shown to be established. These letters are the door to the samadhi of manifest enlightenment, hence called the essence of bodhi. Thus, the Bhagavan first blessed in the great empowerment mandala, and then showed the establishment of the letters, also to teach future sentient beings that they should also act in this way. "A is the supreme knowable, The display of the great empowerment mandala, Both outwardly and inwardly, One should know the vajra mandala." This means, according to the sequence described above, to contemplate one's own body as inseparable from the body of the Buddha, the great empowerment mandala. The vajra mandala is the great empowerment mandala, marked with the sign of the vajra. "Having stayed there, contemplate everything" means to contemplate the letters such as A in sequence from there. "It is said to be the abode of yoga" means that the body abiding in the great empowerment mandala is the abode of yoga, hence called the abode of yoga. "A is the supreme life, it is said to be the supreme summoner" means that the mantra practitioner, abiding in the great empowerment mandala, contemplates the letter A, its color like pure gold, pushed upwards by the breath of the inner mandala, emerging from one's own nostrils, entering the nostrils of the patient on the other side, spreading throughout them all like a cloth immersed in water, or like a yak tail spread out. Then, with intention, contemplate pulling the letter A back together with the breath, like pulling a spread-out cloth or yak tail from the water, thus contemplating, with that, gathering all diseases into the nature of A, and then again.
