If it possesses such characteristics, there is no fault even if there are countless more beyond it. Then, from "Vajrapani asked the Blessed One" to "In order to become the cause of Bodhicitta, one should completely take hold of immeasurable sentient beings," it is previously Vajrapani asked the Blessed One, saying: If the number of disciples is determined, what is the reason? This is the Blessed One's answer. What needs to be asked is: Why is the number of disciples determined? If one asks: What is the name of this mandala? Why is it called a mandala? Then, his intention is like this: If asked in this way, it is equivalent to asking all three of the defining term of the mandala, the object to be specified, and the determination of the number of disciples. Among them, "What is the name of this mandala?" is asking about the mandala to be specified and indicated. "Why is it called a mandala?" is asking about the defining term. "This mandala is the place where Buddhas appear," this is because this mandala is similar to the appearance of Buddhas. If a Buddha appears, the qualities of the Buddha's Dharma will also appear, and there will also be the activity of benefiting sentient beings. Similarly, from this mandala, the Buddhas' Dharma will also arise, and there will also be the activity of benefiting sentient beings, immediately generating Bodhicitta, gradually obtaining supreme accomplishments and activities such as pacification, and ultimately becoming the cause of attaining Buddhahood. The center is called essence, and completeness is said to be like the essence of butter or the essence of sandalwood, which is a term for the supreme or sacred. If the essence of butter and sandalwood may be incomplete or imperfect, is it the same as those? The answer is: Although similar in essence, it is different from them in that it is all-pervasive. All-pervasive means complete and perfect. So, how is the essence of this mandala complete and perfect? The Buddha, the Blessed One, accumulated the accumulations of merit and wisdom for countless eons, thereby perfecting the qualities of the Buddha such as strength and fearlessness.

Manifesting enlightenment in unsurpassed Bodhi is the essence that is accomplished and supreme. Accomplished means that there is no need to seek anything other than it, because it is sufficient and completely fulfilled without changing. That which manifests enlightenment in unsurpassed Bodhi, and is completely fulfilled without changing, becomes a wheel of inexhaustible adornments of body and so on due to the power of previous aspirations. Because this mandala is blessed, the essence of this mandala is called accomplished. Lord of Secrets, however, this vast mandala is called the essence of great compassion arising for the sake of completely protecting the uncertain realms of sentient beings. The phrase "for the sake of completely protecting the uncertain realms of sentient beings" means that by the power of great compassion, immeasurable realms of sentient beings are placed in this mandala, becoming the cause of unsurpassed Bodhi, hence it is said "for the sake of protection." The phrase "the essence of great compassion arising" means that this mandala arises from great compassion, that is, after the Bhagavan, the all-knowing one, has attained wisdom, this mandala of inexhaustible adornments of body and so on arises by the power of great compassion, hence it is called arising from great compassion. Essence means the source of arising, the place where the mandala of great compassion arises. Alternatively, it can also be said that great compassion arises from this mandala, that is, through the door of this mandala, the qualities of the Tathagata, such as great compassion, arise, and thus all-knowing wisdom is attained. The phrase "vast mandala" means that the sentient beings placed in this mandala increase in merit. Secondly, the sequence of banners and so on of the mandala itself increases or expands, and can also be called vast. The word "however" means that it is called a mandala because Buddhas appear, but because it is endowed with these qualities, it is also named as such. There, the Tathagatas blessed that which had been diligently accomplished as unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment for countless eons, meaning that this mandala is none other than that which the Tathagatas for countless eons.

Therefore, it is shown that accumulating the accumulations of merit and wisdom, attaining unsurpassed Bodhi, is especially elucidated in the view, mudras, and mantra letters of the mantras, and blessed. Lord of Secrets! Therefore, you should also understand these terms in this way, that the Tathagatas, in countless eons, accumulated the accumulations of merit and wisdom, attained omniscience, and by the power of past aspirations, with endless adornments such as the body, bless for the sake of saving all sentient beings, not for one or two sentient beings, therefore know that the Tathagata attains enlightenment, not for one or two beings, but for the benefit of immeasurable beings. Therefore, the Tathagatas do not manifest enlightenment for the sake of one being, not for two, not for three, but those who are dominated by great compassion, manifest enlightenment and become Buddhas in order to completely protect all sentient beings, as it is said. The so-called teaching the Dharma to sentient beings as desired means that although the Tathagatas manifest enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings, not all sentient beings can become vessels for the Tathagatas to teach the Dharma, the Tathagatas teach the Dharma in accordance with their respective beliefs, this is teaching the Dharma as desired. Lord of Secrets! Those who have not previously practiced the Great Vehicle, if they see or hear the way of practicing mantras, will not generate the slightest joy or faith in their minds. Lord of Secrets! Those who have previously practiced the way of practicing the Great Vehicle mantras through immeasurable doors, Bodhisattvas also have two types, namely practicing the Paramita practice and practicing the Mantra door. Among them, the Bodhisattva who practices the Paramita practice also practices the Mantra practice, and the Bodhisattva who practices the Mantra door also practices the Paramita.
