Having wisdom means possessing the ability to destroy and dissolve the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and other phenomena into emptiness. Having wisdom refers to two types of wisdom: one is innate sharp wisdom, and the other is wisdom gained through listening, contemplation, and so on. Possessing either of these is sufficient. Having compassion means that compassion is the act of liberating sentient beings from suffering. Compassion is also divided into innate compassion and compassion developed through practice. Possessing both of these. Being skilled in means refers to the many types of means, such as worldly linguistic means. Here, it refers to being skilled in drawing mandalas and the various aspects of offerings. Constantly being skilled in the way of the Perfection of Wisdom means being skilled in the two ways of ultimate truth and conventional truth. In terms of ultimate truth, it means being skilled in meditating on all aspects of the Perfection of Wisdom as being unborn and unarisen from the beginning, as being the nature of emptiness. In terms of conventional truth, it means rising from that meditation on the emptiness of wisdom and practicing the perfections such as generosity, and without clinging to them, being skilled in applying them in a way that the three spheres are completely purified. Knowing how to differentiate the three vehicles means being skilled at distinguishing the characteristics by which the Hearers' Vehicle understands the selflessness of the person and understands the aggregates, elements, etc., as impermanent, suffering, and selfless; the Solitary Realizers' Vehicle understands those aggregates, etc., as being of the nature of dependent arising; and the Great Vehicle understands all phenomena as unborn and unarisen from the beginning. So, in general, how can one vehicle be divided into three? It is not that the vehicle itself is divided into three, but rather it refers to being skilled at distinguishing the characteristics of how Hearers and Solitary Realizers each understand them. Being skilled in the suchness of mantra means that the general characteristic of suchness of mantras is the mind of enlightenment, being skilled in that, and being skilled in mantras, seed syllables, and samadhi. Being skilled in mantras means being skilled at distinguishing whether the words of the mantra are an exhortation or the nature of a mudra. Being skilled in seed syllables means knowing what the essence of each deity's seed syllable is, and those...

Being skilled in what are the doors and activities of samadhi. Being skilled in samadhi means being powerful in entering samadhi, and being skilled in arranging mandalas of water and so on, and accomplishing activities with them. Knowing the mind means knowing the minds of the disciples. However, this is not to be known by knowing the minds of others, but by inferring with mantras, observing the behavior and manners of the disciples, thereby being skilled in observing which peaceful and wrathful deities should be approached, and which of the three kinds of accomplishments, superior, middling, and inferior, should be practiced, and so on. Having faith in Buddhas and Bodhisattvas means having joy and trust in their qualities. Receiving permission and empowerment to perform the work of drawing mandalas, where empowerment means pouring water into a vase adorned with incense, flowers, medicine, jewels, etc., in the mandala of empowerment. Receiving permission means that after such empowerment, you are given permission with the words, "You should do it," to use the drawing and practice of the mandala. Therefore, receiving permission and empowerment means that without empowerment, permission will not be received. Since empowerment has been mentioned, it will naturally be understood even if it is not mentioned. So, why are both mentioned? Because it is possible to receive permission to do minor activities such as dispelling demons, even without empowerment. Therefore, it is said that permission is received and empowerment is given. Steadfast means having wisdom and enjoyment, etc., but not becoming arrogant because of them. Even if one does not possess these, one will not be discouraged. Being skilled in combination means being skilled in the combination of activities such as practice and pacification. Abiding in the mind of enlightenment means being able to abide in the samadhi of emptiness and non-discrimination. Secret Lord, the teacher who possesses such qualities is born from the nature of the Victorious One, and is also praised by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Among them, the one who possesses such a teacher means the one who possesses the qualities mentioned above. Born from the nature of the Victorious One means that the Victorious One is the Buddha Bhagavan, and his nature is the Dharmadhatu. Dharmadhatu

That which arises from faith in emptiness is called born from the very nature of the Victorious One. "Praised by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas" means that such a teacher, endowed with such qualities, is praised by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If that teacher is praised by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, is there a teacher who is not praised? Yes, there is. The phrase "praised by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas" indicates that there are two types of teachers: those who have faith in the profound and vast, and those who have characteristics. In this case, the teacher who possesses such qualities and is praised by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas refers to the teacher who is profound and vast. The characteristics of a teacher with characteristics will be understood later when explaining the characteristics of the two types of teachers. Now, the disciples who are accepted as a retinue by such a teacher should be examined. The examination of these disciples should also be done through the qualities of their own nature and the qualities of their manifest accumulation. Therefore, Secret Lord, even if someone else entrusts that teacher, it is also permissible, which means that it is also permissible for disciples who possess the characteristics mentioned below to request. Alternatively, when seeing someone who is without defilement and can become a vessel for sentient beings, one does not need to be urged, but can become a vessel for knowledge, which refers to becoming a vessel as previously described. "Without defilement" means without sin. Sin exists in the mindstream. How can the teacher see it? Seeing that there is no sin residing in that mindstream means seeing that one does not engage in the causes of sin that should not be done, and does not practice the ten paths of unwholesome actions, which is seeing that there is no sin. If such a disciple is seen, even if not requested by others, because they are capable of becoming a vessel for disciples, the Dharma should be taught with the verses that appear below, and they should be established in the way of mantra. "Greatly devoted" means that even if one has not comprehended or directly realized the qualities of the Buddhas, the Bhagavad-Tathagatas, such as the earth and the perfections, one should listen and contemplate, believing that this is the truth and not something else, which is great devotion.
