That which is disturbed by the faults of others is like a mind of defilement. That is, one's own mind is disturbed by the faults of others. What is the mind of color? That which only relies on it to practice the Dharma is like a mind of color. Like white or red colors, whatever is applied to it, that place transforms into the nature of that color. Similarly, the mind also clings to whatever object it thinks of, and transforms into the nature of what it thinks of. What is the mind of chaff? That which abandons other virtuous Dharmas is like a mind of chaff. Chaff has the function of protecting against being pierced by spears and other things. Similarly, the mind also obscures other virtuous Dharmas by practicing one virtuous Dharma. What is the mind of delusion? That which grasps something else and thinks of something else is the mind of the nature of delusion. That is, it grasps an object and is deluded, thinking it is something else. What is the mind of poison? That which thinks of the extreme non-existence of things is the mind of poison. Poison is that which, when touched, dies and disappears. Similarly, the mind also abandons afflictions such as views and does not regenerate, thus disappearing. What is the mind of rope? That which binds everything by itself and abides is like a mind of rope. A rope has the function of binding. Similarly, the mind also practices the Dharma that binds itself. What is the mind of fetters? That which thinks of abiding on two feet is like a mind of fetters. Fetters hold the two feet, and similarly, the mind also practices the Dharma that holds the two extremes of existence and non-existence of words. Then, how does the fetter holding the two feet and the mind holding the two extremes become a metaphor? In Indian language, the foot is called "Yangpada", and the word is also called "Yangpada", so they are the same. What is the mind of cloud? That which thinks in summer is like a mind of cloud. Clouds gather in summer and perform the function of summer. Similarly, the mind also practices the Dharma that performs the function of summer.

What is the mind of a field? It is said, "It completely acts on my body," which is like the mind of a field. A field is where rice and other crops grow, so it is cultivated and cared for. Similarly, this mind also adorns my body with bathing, anointing, and ornaments to make my body good, and draws near to such a Dharma. What is the mind of salt? It is said, "Whatever one thinks with, that is what one thinks," which is the mind of salt. If salt is placed in a container such as a bottle, the container will be corroded by the salt, becoming empty, cracked, and tasting of salt. Similarly, this mind also focuses on whatever object and contemplates whatever thought, and that mind itself refutes the thought of the next moment, thereby drawing near to the Dharma that makes it disappear. What is the mind of a razor? It is said, "It merely abides in ordination," which is like the mind of a razor. A razor only does the work of shaving the hair of the ordained, and that ordination is not diligent in doing other things. Similarly, this mind also, after being ordained and shaving the hair, merely abides in ordination, and does not practice the disciplines of ordination, such as keeping vows. What is the mind that has become Mount Meru? It is said, "The mind that has become great" is like the mind of Mount Meru. Mount Meru is eighty thousand yojanas high and has become elevated. Similarly, this mind also thinks, "My qualities are completely superior," and thus becomes arrogant and great, drawing near to the Dharma that makes it great. What is the mind that has become an ocean? It is said, "Contemplating one's own body and abiding," which is like the mind of an ocean. The ocean uses its own waves to strike and touch itself. Similarly, this mind also contemplates its own body as impermanent and empty, and so on. What is the mind that has become a cave? It is said, "It shows that which was previously determined and later becomes that," which is like the mind of a cave. This mind, the cave, is determined from a small door, and this cave becomes many times larger than the door. Similarly, this mind also previously enters with certainty because it possesses self, discipline, and qualities, and thus discipline
