and that the mudrā protects disciples, etc. If it is protected, it will never be destroyed because it is established by the nature of the dharmadhātu, just as no one would dare to offend a person who possesses the seal of the worldly king, as has been explained in detail before. Therefore, in the Dharmadhātu Sūtra, it says: It is also called the characteristic of the mudrā. This means that, in short, all mudrās should be known as the characteristics of the dharmadhātu. From "The three empowerments should be known" to "That is the proclamation of its mantra," the three empowerments are explained, namely, empowerment by mudrā. That is action and deed, which means that it arises from great compassion, and in the mandala where the wheel of letters turns, whenever the teacher and disciples have faith in the vastness, it is taught that empowerment should be given by mudrā. In front of either of those two mandalas, without relying on the vase of empowerment, etc., empowerment is given by the mudrā of Samantabhadra and other bodhisattvas and the mudrā that will appear below. "Separated from action and deed" means separated from the vase of empowerment, the mandala, the conch, the wheel, and other rituals. "Both have been spoken" means that great compassion arises, and in front of the mandala where the wheel of letters turns, the mandala of empowerment is drawn, and empowerment is given as described before. "The three are known by mind, separated from time and place" means empowerment by mind in the secret mandala, which is the actual appearance below. How does serving the guru properly show benefit? "Empowerment is the Buddha, that is praise and proclamation" means that after empowerment by mudrā in the first two mandalas, the words of permission are spoken. After the mudrā empowerment, rejoicing in the diligence and service of the teacher and disciples, it should be known that this refers to statements such as "From now on, you will turn the wheel of Dharma." The first mudrā empowerment and the second empowerment are
