Sa pa. This is proclaimed as the Abhaya Mudra. The Abhaya Mudra is the mudra of giving fearlessness. If oneself or sentient beings are frightened and terrified by obstacles, etc., by showing this mudra, one will be liberated from that. This is the Varada Mudra, praised by the protectors of the world. As soon as this is formed, it becomes the supreme Varada, the Victorious One. This is the Bhagavan's Varada Mudra for sentient beings. If one wishes to receive the supreme, such as the complete ones, one receives it by forming this Varada Mudra. This is the great royal mudra, of all the Buddha protectors. It intimidates all the maras. It is the giving of all hopes. As soon as it is formed, they will undoubtedly separate. Many hosts of maras are frightened, as well as obstacles and other various obstacles. This is the mudra that makes obstacles terrified. Give that mudra. All obstacles, etc., will be terrified and separated. Thus, if the obstacles separate, there will be no obstacles. Therefore, whatever is thought will be accomplished. Therefore, it fulfills all hopes. This is the eye born from compassion by the Buddha protectors. Place it on the eye. Therefore, it becomes the Buddha's eye. From this, the Buddha Bhagavan sees all sentient beings with the eye of wisdom, with the power of great compassion. This is called the eye born from compassion. Since that eye has been blessed in this mudra, form this mudra and place it on the eye. When transforming oneself into the body of the Buddha, it becomes the Buddha's eye. This lasso is said to be supreme. It eliminates all harm. If the mantra reciter forms this, then all harm is always bound. This is the blessing of the lasso mudra, saying that by the nature of the eightfold noble path, wisdom delivers all sentient beings. By forming this lasso mudra, it performs the action of binding harm, such as obstacles. This is called throwing the hook. It is used by all the Buddha protectors. It completely summons everything without exception.

Those who abide in the ten bhumis, as well as the mighty Bodhisattvas, and others who have harmful thoughts. This means that the Tathagata's actions of cause and effect, in the time of cause, gather and lead sentient beings with the four means of gathering, and in the time of fruit, gather and lead sentient beings with the vajra ornaments such as the indestructible body, that very action is blessed as the iron hook mudra. The iron hook also leads all, that is, those who harm, such as obstacles, and also the Bodhisattvas who abide in the ten bhumis. If the Bodhisattvas who abide in the ten bhumis can also be hooked, what need is there to mention others? The navel mudra of the Tathagata. From the previous mudra, that is, to remember the iron hook mudra, it should be known that the iron hook mudra is to raise the two middle fingers. The vajra mudra of the Tathagata is, the five Abhisambodhis are joined together. The iron hook mudra is joined with action. The heart essence mudra of the Tathagata and, the ten powers mudra are joined with Samantabhadra. The mudra of all dharmas being equally absorbed is joined with Nirvana. Among them, the mantra, I prostrate to Samantabhadra, is joined with Samantabhadra. I prostrate to Samantabhadra Vajra, is joined with Bodhi. I prostrate to all the Tathagatas, is joined with the Tathagata. Among them, the mantras and mudras, the teachings, there are common teachings and individual teachings. Among them, the individual teachings are also of two kinds, directly shown and indirectly implied. Among them, the directly shown are the names mentioned above. The indirectly implied are "etc.", which are often implied. The common teaching is, Secret Lord, how much the body moves should all be recognized as mudras. How much the tongue moves should also be known as mantras, etc. That is, how it is said to abide, the mind endowed with Bodhicitta and, abiding in the Tathagata ground and drawing a mandala, etc. When the reciter has a mind endowed with Bodhicitta and, abides in the Tathagata ground and becomes,

The body and so on become mudras, and the movement of the tongue becomes the recitation of mantras. In connection with this, the mind that possesses bodhicitta means possessing a mind that contemplates emptiness. To abide in the Tathagata ground refers to the two aspects of conventional and ultimate truth. Conventionally, abiding in the Tathagata ground is associated with the form of a deity. Ultimately, it is associated with the nature of emptiness as a deity. Therefore, possessing bodhicitta and associating the characteristics of conventional and ultimate truth with the form of a deity, rather than performing mantras and mudras, or drawing mandalas, will protect the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, as the Buddha himself stated. Now, explaining the chapter on mantras, and so on, the words of mantras and the seeds of letters become the door to samadhi, and so on, the thirty-two letters beginning with 'ka', and the sixteen beginning with 'āli', will all be possessed. Among these, the thirty-two letters beginning with 'ka' cannot be spoken without being combined with the letter 'a', so it should be known that they are all combined with 'a'. This is the secret lord, the gate that expands in all directions. Listen to the teachings of the Dharma, and so on. The letters combined with 'a' are used in mantras and become the gate that pervades samadhi and so on. Therefore, the Buddha said: The secret lord, the Bodhisattva abides in 'a', and one should strive for all. First mentioning 'a' and 'sa' and 'ba' refers to the three families. First mentioning the letter 'a', and last mentioning 'pa', and then mentioning the thirty-two letters beginning with 'ka', refers to 'ka' and so on. Know that everything has an ordinary nature, and all of these show the nature of bodhi. First mentioning the guiding letter 'a', and then mentioning guiding 'ka' and so on, know that all of these are the nature of action. If the letter 'a' is mentioned first, then mentioning the thirty-two letters beginning with 'ka', everything is combined with 'a', and know that everything has the nature of becoming a Buddha. First mentioning the letter 'a' with two syllables, and then mentioning the letter with two syllables, and so on.
