Like a magician, one should contemplate form as being like an illusion. If someone becomes angry with an illusory form, and destroys it with fire, poison, weapons, or water, or smashes it with stones, burns it, or cuts it, there is not even a little displeasure. If one offers it food, drink, bathing, perfume, incense, garlands, clothes, sandalwood, camphor, and so on, various kinds of divine and human resources, it does not become happy because of that. Why is that? Because that form, which is empty of inherent existence, is such that, because of the arising of all one's pride, the person who makes offerings or harms it, arising from the inverted, unreal conceptualization, is of the nature of a child. Secret Lord, in that way, one should establish the emptiness of inherent existence with mindfulness that follows the body in relation to the body. Secret Lord, furthermore, the mind is without inherent existence, separated from all signs, one should think of it as being empty of inherent existence. Secret Lord, from the mind, there are no three times. One should think that whatever is separated from the three times is by nature separated from signs. Secret Lord, furthermore, childish ordinary people understand the mind to be with signs, this is not a superfluous term of unreal complete conceptualization. Whatever is unreal, it is extremely difficult to know as unborn. Secret Lord, if a bodhisattva practices the conduct of a bodhisattva through the door of secret mantras, if he thinks in that way, he will attain signless samadhi. Secret Lord, when he abides in signless samadhi, at that time the secret mantras of the Tathagatas will manifestly turn and incline towards him, as it is said. Here, the sound of the word 'mind' is taken to mean the six consciousnesses of the eye and so forth, which focus on forms and so forth. If one examines the objects of the mind, such as forms and so forth, with the reasoning of one and many, or with the reasoning of being unborn from the beginning and without birth, then they are without inherent existence, and cannot be objects of the mind that is the nature of the consciousnesses of the eye and so forth. Therefore, because there are no objects such as forms and so forth, in that

The discriminating consciousness of the eye, etc., is also unborn. Whatever is unborn cannot be established as past, future, or present. Therefore, the mind does not have three times. Thus, one should examine that the mind, which is the self-nature of the aggregate of consciousness, with the self-nature of the four aggregates of form, etc., as its object, does not exist. Now, in order to examine that the mind, which is the self-nature of the apprehended and the apprehender, has also not been born or arisen from the very beginning, the scriptural authority says that ordinary people, such as children, understand the mind in a characterized way, and this is a superfluous word of unreal parikalpita. What is unreal is unborn, which is what (the Buddha) said, "I do not know." In this regard, here, the "mind" is understood to be the consciousness with the aspect of the apprehended and the apprehender, as it is said, from this: White, yellow, red, whatever, is thought of by the mind, whatever completely cuts off from this, that is done by the mind. The mind is delighted and determined, and is proclaimed as samadhi. The yogi abides in this, becomes perfectly enlightened, and should contemplate the two-legged venerable one. Thus it is said. Here, white is the mandala of the moon. Yellow is the mandala of the earth. Red is the mandala of fire, and according to each situation, from this tantra, the teachings of the yogis who practice samadhi in order to become perfectly enlightened, etc., are explained. Whatever appears as blue, yellow, and red, etc., to the mind, if examined by the reasoning made earlier, is unreasonable, so the yogis also enter into the mind without its characteristics. For that very reason, this is a superfluous word of unreal parikalpita. What is unreal is unborn, as it is said, and from other scriptures it is also said: Object and sentient being and self-consciousness, the arising of the appearing consciousness, if there is no time, then that is also not. Therefore, the yogi who wants to accomplish the signless samadhi, first of all, for the body that has not been cultivated, because the nature of form itself is inherently rigid, so previously
