Garlic, leeks, the juice of Matana, and so on. These are for those who abide in the vows of a Bodhisattva, in order to diminish compassion, to feel ashamed before the Sugatas, to abandon what is unseemly, and to abandon carelessness. This is not so for those who abide in selflessness. 'Actions that harm sentient beings' means that from the aspect of the body, one should not harm the bodies of sentient beings even by merely using swords, stones, and sticks, etc.; from the aspect of speech, one should not speak any words that would harm others; and from the aspect of mind, one should not rejoice in evil thoughts and harmful thoughts. Among these, the four root vows should not be abandoned even if one's life is at stake, because severing my life is only a little suffering, while breaking the root vows will cause one to experience unbearable suffering in the Avici hell. The four branch vows, even if broken due to circumstances, should not be practiced from approach to great accomplishment, and after faults have occurred, one should confess before the Sugatas with the Hundred Syllable Mantra, etc. 'Never abandon the Three Jewels,' and likewise, 'my own nature and mantras, etc.' should be known. Here, thirteen vows to be kept are proclaimed. Among these, not abandoning the Three Jewels means especially not committing acts of killing and disrespect, etc. At all times, do not abandon the mind of enlightenment, which in this context is of three types: conventional, illusory, and ultimate. Conventional Bodhicitta means that for the benefit of all sentient beings, one generates the mind of enlightenment and does not abandon it until one attains perfect and complete enlightenment. Illusory Bodhicitta is the unsurpassed cause, which means that one should not completely abandon one's own seed. Ultimate Bodhicitta means constantly not abandoning the mind that is free from all conceptualizations and in which all phenomena are naturally pure. As the Bhagavan said: 'The mind of enlightenment is of three types, and should never be separated from.'

If one separates from them, the root downfalls of mantra will deteriorate. It is said so. Essence, mantra, and mudra, as well as deities and gurus, are also the same. Among them, essence is wisdom, and in order to generate it, one should practice inner yoga. Mantra is the recitation of mantra, which should be done constantly. Mudra is a symbol, and it should be connected with offerings. Deities are the deities of the mandala. Gurus are Vajra Acharyas, and one should constantly make offerings to them and not abandon them. Whatever is sinful, etc., one should not transgress the guru's commands. This means that one should not engage in any actions of body, speech, and mind that become sinful, and one should not transgress the guru's commands as spoken, except for the guru's commands that are blessed by demons, etc. One should not step on the old offerings offered to the deities, nor their shadows. The same applies to the form of mudras. One should not slander mantras and deities. The old offerings offered to the deities are flower garlands and all offerings, and one should not step on them. If one steps on them, what kind of sin will it become? Touching the bodies, heads, and hands, etc., of the Sugatas, and the enjoyments enjoyed by the liberated faculties, should be regarded as their faculties. Stepping on them is said to be like stepping on them themselves, which is sinful. Shadows are the shadows of deities, etc., and since they are inseparable from the deities, etc., they will become sinful. The forms of mudras are vajras, bells, and rosaries, etc., and since they are the nature of the deities, one should not step on them either. One should not slander mantras and deities, such as saying that relying on this deity will not achieve siddhi, or that this mantra will not produce results, etc. That is, one should not prevent others from having faith because one has not achieved it oneself, because one is obscured, and others may achieve it. Because the Sugatas do not have the discrimination of giving this siddhi and not giving that siddhi, etc., and one's own self arises from being obscured. This is also from the Avatamsaka Sutra.
